I watched Eliza go with a groan. There was definitely a reason she was the head maid. The woman was a problem, and I didn’t wish to have anything to do with her anymore. She was as cold as ice, and I wish I could take her out, but that was not right. She was the key to getting in touch with my family and I had to calm down if I needed to get things done.
With a sigh, I made my way back to the kitchen. The maids were still at it, and the moment I was in, they dragged me to the other side of the hall, and made me pound pepper and other lettuce.
“Oh, Moon Goddess!” I said under my breath as I pounded the pepper using mortar and pestle.
