Chapter VII: Night to Remember

1502 Words
Minutes later....         "You're so beautiful," said the copper brown haired guy, in an English twang. Verona mused at the man in front of her. His features seemed to be a mixture of Caucasian and an Oriental. He had a strong jaw like those of the male models seen on TV. She had to admit that she was captivated by his charm. His green eyes were like emeralds, as it telegraphed so much interest at her.     "I know." Verona replied smugly and took a sip in her tequila.     "Tim Marshalls," the man introduced as he extended his hands at her.     "Verona." She replied as she shook his hands firmly.     They chat animatedly that night. She had learned that Tim was a Canadian author of numerous fiction books and decided to take a vacation here in Philippines.     "So why do you work as a..." Tim trailed off, afraid that she might offend her.     "Prostitute." Verona curtsied and chuckled dryly.      "Listen, I'm not interested about anybody's life, and I don't know why I'm here killing my time with you." Verona scoffed and churned down her tequila.     "Then, you should had walked away from the very start." Tim retorted.     Verona just stared at him. Her cheeks flushed in a welching shade of pink. He was right, I should had walk away from the very start.     "I mean I came here to do my job," she pressed smugly.     "Job?" Tim scoffed and poured another drink.     "I don't give a hoot on what you guys think about me. I have to go. Thanks for your time," she countered icily and about to storm off. But Tim gripped her hands and pulled her close and accidentally, she smacked him on his lips. He felt the urge on kissing her and so he did as Verona found herself reciprocating.     "Let me take you outta here," Tim said and motioned her towards his car.     "Wait, can I have my tip now?" Verona egged in a seductive tone.     "Sure, but promise me that this night is the most mind blowing night I'll ever have," he assured, grinning salaciously.     "Of course, it'll be the most mind-blowing night you'll ever have because this will be your last night of existence" Verona let out a hollow laugh in that thought and bit her lower lip. Sure enough, they settled themselves in a hotel and lost themselves in the throes of passion.     Why does she feel like floating? She was on fire as she relished the exquisite feeling of their love making. She had to admit that she had never felt like this before with her customers.     As an arrow of heat shot all over her, her nails dug at his back as he got inside of her. He was hot and throbbing. Something about him had her soul clawing on the sheet. She arched her hips up and let out a tortured moan. Soon enough, they both found their release. But this had to be done.     Why does she feel like holding back on preying him? No way! He is my menu for this night.     "Verona, can we meet again after this night?" Tim asked, nuzzling on her neck.     "Sure, as long as you pay me,"     "No... It's not like this... I wanna know you more as a person, as a woman. Because strange as it seems, I am oddly drawn to you" he said, eyeing her intensely.     "I am a w***e. What do you want to know more about me?" Verona replied in a serrated voice.     "You're only human Verona. I know you never wanted this. You're better than this," he said as he threw her a pained expression.     She wanted to believe that he was right. But everything about her screamed hideous. With a resigned sigh, she pushed back her thoughts.     "I'm not human," Verona blurted out. True enough.     For a fraction of seconds, Tim shot her a dubious look. Shaking his head, he started to gather his clothes and dressed up.     "Here's my card, call me if you've changed your mind," he muttered.     "Why are you acting like that? We just met. Aren't you afraid of what I can do to you?" Verona countered in an ominous tone.     Tim just shot her a frantic look.     "What if I kill you this time? What if I steal all your credits and leave you here screwed, would you still want to know more about me? Learn to trust no one Tim, because in this world the first and last person we should trust is only ourselves." Verona said tersely.     "You're wrong about that, how can we love if we won't trust? I'm pretty sure that you love your sister. Don't you trust her? Let's call it a night. Goodnight Verona," he bid goodbye and made his way out in the room, leaving Verona flabbergasted.     That was the first time she met a man like that. It was not only a one-night stand. There was more to life about that whole thing.     'What is this feeling? I'm supposed to eat his brain and now I let him get out alive? You're doing it wrong Verona!' She held out his calling card as she could feel her body going numb. Well, the jokes on her, it was certainly the most mind-blowing night she ever had. ********************************************************     Verona woke up in a pearl gray morning. The thoughts of him lingered like an intoxicating drug. She racked her brain "No... Verona...you can't fall in love with a human... Maybe you're just attracted to him" She thought as she held out his calling card. She threw herself again in her bed and cocooned herself in the blanket.     "No... It's not like this... I wanna know you more as a person, as a woman... because strange as it seems, I am oddly drawn to you."     She flashed a smile as she replayed what he has said that night. She could still scent his musky cologne, with his warm body pressing against her, playing havoc rhythm with her dormant heart.     "Give it a try, Verona. You'll just befriend him, nothing more."      Weeks passed like a thick dragging lull. She heeded the voice inside her heart.     "You're writing stories about monsters?" Verona asked, quite unnerved as she flipped the pages of the paperback novel.     "Uh- huh. I'm fascinated by the clandestine world of supernatural." Tim retorted with a tight grin     Verona almost choked on that thought. She felt her blood singing to her veins.     "Do you believe in monsters?" She asked awkwardly.     "I do, I've seen one." Tim countered, clenching his jaw. With that, she felt the air in her lungs gushing out of her.     "R…really?" She asked in a tremulous voice.     Tim laughed merely and shook his head.     "What's funny?"     "Nothing. I'm glad that you're here with me. And yep, I've seen one...a monster in bed." He said with a naughty grin.     Biting her lower lip, Verona's face flushed into a welching shade of pink.     "Silly," she muttered sheepishly.        For a moment, they locked gaze and gradually, her thoughts drifted away. It felt like she was floating over the billowing clouds.     "Kiss me," she murmured, thoughtlessly.     Tim leaned closer to her and pressed his lips against her. She wounded her arms around his neck and claimed his mouth.     "I want you to leave your job," Tim said under his breath, cupping her face.     "I have no other means Tim," Verona replied wryly, craning her face away from him.     "I'll help you to start over. You could work as my secretary while I'm here,"     "But what about when you leave huh?"     Tim paused for a moment. In the gathering silence, he planted a soft kiss in her forehead.     "Verona. Trust me on this, trust me. Before I met you, my world revolves only in fictional books, in the stories I write. I live inside an imagination. But then things have changed on the night that I met you. It was like everything surreal became so real." Tim countered heartily.     "I can't believe... I have that effect on you." Verona muttered in hypnotic tone.      Am I to believe his words? Or was he just sugarcoating?     "It's true Verona. Don't you trust me? I may be a fiction writer but that doesn't mean all the words that comes out from my mouth are all f..."     "No, I do believe in you," she shot back and kissed him once more.     "I love you, Verona. Time can't explain this feeling. I don't believe that it takes time to fall in love with a person whom you just met few weeks ago. It's just a matter of feelings. You're my non- fiction dream,"     "I love you too Tim. Promise me, you won't leave me,"     "I promise baby. Rest assured," Tim crooned and kissed her again. She realized that this was the best feeling of all; to love and be loved. She couldn't care less about what she really is; all she wanted was to love him infinitely, with their destiny solidly at their side.
