The man pulled his arm back, swinging and punching me in the face repeatedly before landing a few hits to my stomach. I kept silent. I wouldn’t even let a grunt out. I didn’t want Kyra to hear that it was hurting me; it was bad enough that she had to see it. “STOP!” I heard Kyra shout before she tried to lunge at the man that hit me. I hated that she was trying to protect me. It shouldn’t be like this. I was supposed to be protecting her, and right now, I couldn’t do a damn thing to help her.
