Chapter 44The radio stood SILENT. Standing on its end on the lattice platform flooring above the reactor core housing, it had suddenly, and inexplicitly, ceased at the very commencement of the security check.
Cameron and Grace stared at one another with equally puzzled expressions.
“Is that normal?” Grace asked.
“Definitely not,” Cameron said, flatly.
For Lewis to start a security check promptly, and abruptly stop it, practically in mid-sentence, was highly unusual. In the eight months Cameron had been working there, it had never happened.
“It is very weird,” Cameron added.
Lifting the radio from the floor, he checked the volume and frequency controls. All looked okay. Clicking it on and off and listening into the speaker, he found it to be fully functional.
