Chapter 48Cameron and Grace heard the explosion too, muffled blasts from deep within the subterranean levels of Condenser Room.
“What's that?” Grace asked nervously.
“I don't know, but it didn't sound good,” Cameron replied.
Then they heard, vaguely, what sounded like down-pouring water, coming down the outer shell of the building.
“What's that?” Grace asked again.
“I think we have a problem,” Cameron replied.
Two levels above on the main floor, the emergency warning system suddenly activated. Four swirling red lights positioned high in the ceiling of the grand concrete room, flashed to the sound of screeching sirens. The radiation evacuation lights anchored above the huge entry-door kicked on too, blinking on-and-off in colors of yellow and red.
