The moment I laid I eyes on Eli, I knew I was gonna be damned. I walked towards Eli slowly and everyone’s eyes is on me right now. Smiling, waving and greeting each and everyone like a fan meeting. I look at the right and everyone was raising their glasses for me. I look at the left and I can see people whispering. I arrived at Eli’s table, I can see Jericho still seated and he was kind of chill. I don’t know but I could see Eli’s devil twin sister then I am looking at her right now. “Hey!” I greeted half smiling.
I don’t know if she knows already but she didn’t literally scold me but I can read her eyes like no one else could. I know that look, it’s a moment of “I’ll deal with you later”. I faced the front as some middle age man started talking about the success of this tour and he introduced someone I didn’t expect “Everyone, May I have your attention. please”. I can see people looking at an awesome rich guy who dropped by to crash some party he wasn’t invited with. Mr, Saltz continued introducing the man of the night “Let us all welcome this very humble friend of mine to congratulate our dear Ian which was I wasn’t gonna say this, my friend, but he is the one who made a huge investment in this business. Everyone, Let’s give a warm welcome to Edward William Grant”. Everyone was clapping and I was shocked with Mr. Saltz announcement. He is an investor to the label I was in right now. Is he seriously trying to control me with his money again? I suddenly had a thought on how he got his hands on bringing his money to Mr. Saltz and I didn’t realize Mr. Saltz and Grant are standing right in front of me.
Mr. Saltz tapped me in the present and I apologized for not hearing him. I asked him for the second time what he was saying a while ago but instead of an answer from Mr. Saltz, Grant answers in his place. “He said if you are okay, son” he said looking at me with those mocking smile. I got annoyed as I rolled my eyes in frustration but no one saw it anyway. “Nice meeting you again, sir” said Jericho. I looked at him and he was giving me this eyes of “What? It’s just for formality”. Mr. Saltz take that as another level of conversation and he asked if Jericho knew Grant and Jericho replied “My father works in his care, Liam”. Liam Saltz was just nodding like an i***t as if understood the meaning behind those answer.
I don’t care if he is here for fun or business, I want him out of here. “Eli, I’m out” I started walking when I felt a hand stopped me from walking. “Can we talk, Collin? I can call you that right?” I breathe shakily in anger but I didn’t let it noticed. I turned back and asked “About? I’m kind of tired”. Mr. Saltz said that I should talk to him for a second. He made a trip here so that he could see me because he was a big fan of mine, he meant his grandson. Is he mocking me or what? I agreed to talk to him because if I don’t agree he will babble some nonsense story about his grandson which was in fact me and he would tell everyone how precious his grandson is that he wouldn’t let anyone know because press may look into his grandson personal life. If anyone would know this, a paparazzi might dig into this story and they might found out about my identity.
If everyone knows about my identity, I will be forced to take on the business and I might stopped making music. Grant hate it when things doesn’t go his way. That one I know for sure living with him. Mom would often get beat up by his harsh words towards me. I knew that I would always end up with his care, he knows that, I know that. My family is so messed up that if everyone would look into it, Grant would be able to run for president of America. That’s how powerful Grant is. He may be loosing up some of his patience because I’m his grandson.
He led me out of the hall. We are standing at this huge top to bottom glass window and he starts talking. “How’s your friend? That one who went to jail?” he asked. My hand turned into a fist, “You did something about that case too, didn’t you? Did you talk to him before I got there?” I said feeling all the anger inside me. I know he’s the one who told Archie to not let me attend his trial and yes, he was sentence to a 13 years in prison. I look it up and it says that five years is enough for a first time offender but 13 years is not a joke. “I only told him what he should know. Nothing else” he said looking out of the window and making some remarks about how people should respect those in power and not fight their destiny. “Destiny? You make them. Not destiny, you scumbag” I told him rude things before but he wasn’t swayed even once.
He looked at me with cold eyes “You shouldn’t say that to your grandfather. Do you understand?”. I feel intimidated with those eyes so I dropped the rudeness by starting to walk away. “Until when do I need to wait for you to understand that our business is where you’ll end up” without looking at him, I answered “Whatever I do, I always end up all the way to you anyway. So, wait for time because you know it’s my destiny to be your heir, remember?”. I left and I don’t know what he said after that because I went back to the party.
