Chapter 13 - Archie's Crime

 "What are you doing here?" I said. He didn't talk at all and he simply said "I need you right now, Ian". I knew he is in trouble so I quickly lock the door and made himself comfortable. I have a lot of questions to ask but I know that he need a minute to relax his mind to tell me what is going on.

He started with how great my concert tonight "I see you had a successful concert yet again. Congratulations." he looks at me and I can see that he meant what he said. I feel like he is into something really big. "I messed up pretty big" I was about to answer when the door opened. Archie looks scared when he saw Jericho and he muttered his name "Jericho". I look confused by this sudden heated atmosphere.

"Get out!" Jericho hissed. I told him to calm down before it gets pretty bad in here. "You don't know what your friend did!" I looked at Archie and asked Jer to say that more clearly. He stated that I better ask Archie about it but he didn't want him here. I told Jer that Archie will leave after he is done talking.

Jer left but told me to be ready for tomorrow morning because we are leaving early tomorrow before he left. Anyway, I looked at Archie and told him to say everything he has to say or he can leave right now. He stood up and look at me in the eyes and mustered anything he fears. "I messed up pretty big, Ian" I didn't say anything and waited for him to spill the tea.

I was patience in waiting and he said everything he did and I was so angry that I almost punch him. I was walking back and forth in my room that I feel l am into something that I am not supposed to be. I stopped talking and face Archie and told him to leave right now.

He said nothing and left without looking at him. I called Jer that I need his advice right now. Jericho came right away telling me that I was supposed to fire Archie and I wasn't able to do that because he is my friend and he was a big part of my life too.

He said that he was caught right away by the police by the time he left my hotel. I couldn't say anything that if I had stopped him before, he wouldn't do anything stupid. Jer told me that I will have to cut ties with him or I'll be in a spot soon. Everyone will come asking and that I should tell the press that he isn't my friend.

I rejected all Jer's planned thinking it was all absurd. Jer picked up his phone that was ringing nonstop since he came here. He was talking nonstop, shouting at the other line and losing his cool. I know that I should do what Jer said for my image but I know that I am betraying my friend. I told Jer that he should sort his problems for now. Before he left, he told me "Don't forget what I told you and do pack your things. We will be leaving early than expected."

he closes the door and I kept repeating what Archie confessed.

-flashback-

"I messed up pretty big, Ian" I chose to listen first before asking him anything. "Eleanor..." I know where this leads when he said that name. He continued saying "...she wanted divorce." I told him that it was a great idea and that it was better to let her go than lose his sanity. I asked him what happened next.

"I can't accept it so she left home and didn't came home for days. I was worried that I looked everywhere, I even hired professional to find her. When I found her, she was a mess, she was having a d**g problem so I asked who's her dealer." I stopped him by saying "She's a d**g addict? How come you didn't know about that?" he looked down and shakes his head "I don't know". I told him to continue "I wanted her to get admitted but when I knew she left the night out. I looked again and found her here in his boyfriend's place." he looks at me and said "I found out he was my brother. He is the one who kept giving Eleanor drugs by sleeping with him."

I was shocked that the innocent Cody would be the one doing drugs. He was sent in Seoul to study korean but I heard he is having a vacation here in Jeju. I know him to be innocent and always kept his promise to his parents. I couldn't believe him so I listened more "We had a fight until I knocked him off but Eleanor won't come with me. I saw him bleeding and when I check him. He wasn't breathing." he looks scared but I asked "Is he okay now?"

"I don't know" I fled the scene as soon as I heard the police cars. "I know that I am in trouble and I can't help but think that I might kill my brother." he was shaking and crying but I was stopped by his phone. He picked it up, answered the call and he immediately drop his phone. I was curious who it was but I think I know who it was about. "Cody's......dead" he was shocked and I couldn't feel pity on him.

I am already at loss with words and I wanted to punch him for fleeing than take care of his brother. "I don't know what to say, Archie, you're not a murderer, you know?" I told him and that I know he is not in his right mind but I know I had to say it. "I told you she's a bad news, man but you didn't listen. You kept on saying she is the one and only. Dude, people like her are only destroying you. You let her control you, man" he was silent until then but he told me "Atleast I did what I had to be with the person I love" I was frozen hearing those kind of things because that is the hurtful truth that I am into right now. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"What did you do to save your relationship with every girls you dated? Maybe, Sophie?" I was angry knowing that I was the one in the spot right now. I couldn't say much but all I said was "Get out". We are in the situation where we say all we want and that we didn't mean so I had to let him go.

-End of flashback-

I would never thought that I will be giving advice to people which I couldn't give to myself. I turn on the TV to turn off the thoughts in my head but all I see in the TV right now is all about an American who killed a person here in this beautiful place Jeju Island. I turned it off and I realized it is already morning. I have to pack my things and be ready to go.
