Chapter 21 – My Night in Taipei

Everyone is busy as we are all heading to the stadium. I told Eli to hurry up but she seemed busy in her room so I knocked. She answered “Wait up” and opened the door and I saw her still on her t-shirt. “We need to go. Why aren’t you prepared?” She looked at her phone and I can see she push the end call button. “Are you talking to somebody?” I asked.   She told me “I’m not feeling good today”. I questioned her answer by the way I look at her but she seemed unfazed. I told her “Just finish whatever that is and just come to the stadium after, allright? I’ll leave one security with you, okay?” she agreed and thank me for understanding the situation.   I know that kind of face. Girls needs that space sometimes, that’s what I understand growing up with my mother. She has this frantic face and I know that she has problems and at the moment, I know, I am not in position to hold her for whatever reason. I continue my way to the stadium with the group and Jona by my side.   “Do you think it’s her boyfriend?” I asked Jona. He looked at me and just shrugged. I raised a brow and ask him again firmly then he said “Confidentiality contract”. I laughed just hearing him say such nonsense excuse. I punch his right shoulder and joked “You knew it, huh? What is it?” I kept bugging him but he won’t budge and lucky him, we arrived at the stadium before he could even say one letter.   I waved to my fans who are waiting outside with the drops of the rain on their heads are starting to get much heavier. I was escorted with an umbrella by Jona. I approached the people near the entrance and shouted so that others can hear as well. “Are you all okay? Get an umbrella to cover yourself up, okay? I am worried, you’ll be sick by tomorrow”. They just screamed and they kept on shouting “We’re fine!” and they kept on shouting. Jona told me to get inside already and so we continued our way inside while waving. I told them to cover the people outside.   Reaching the artist room. I change my outfit to a black hoodie and a white jeans with a white cap. My stylist gave me a white socks to match up my outfit but she gave me a black socks instead. Stylists are way too creative that’s why I love my stylist. “Jean, Make up your mind, girl” she laughed and the whole room laugh as well. “We’ll change you up as soon as you finish your first three songs, so you gotta have to run here and dress up, okay, Ian?”   “Can I just change it with that black shirt” I told her pointing at the clothes rack, the one hanging near the table in front of me. My stylist is thinking about the combination and finally picked up my newly sponsored gold glittered shoes “I think this will fit with the outfit, Ian, Try this one” handing me the shirt with the shoes. “Yeah, This looks comfortable. I’ll wear this one” I said. My Hair stylist joined the conversation then she said “Let’s do you hair now, honey. It’s almost time.”   Trying my new look with my stylist is way better than doing it with Eli. There was a time where Eli kept on telling me to change my hairstyle before so she cut them real short that Jericho had to call in my stylist to fix it before my afternoon showcase, it was a huge disaster but hilarious but thankfully, my hair was saved that day.   “Amy, your son’s going to grade school soon right?” I asked my hair stylist. “Yes, honey, why do you ask?” she replied. Henry is the closest kid I’ve ever encounter in my entire career. He was like a young brother to me so I would always ask Eli to prep me with his life. “Nah, I just want to visit him, it’s been a long time since we bond”. She quickly smile and said “He misses you more than me, honey”. I would smile to her like my mom’s here to guide me. Amy is a single mother who works with me since the beginning, she’s one of the people who really saw me growing up and sometimes I would crash into her house because she’s the closest to the bar I usually went to when I was a troublemaker.   “Everyone, in five” they shouted. I am getting ready to go. I ran outside and hurriedly went to the backstage. It is so dim that they lighted my way with flashlights. The one near the stage handed me the microphone and stayed there for a minute. “Okay, ready?!” he asked me. “Hello, Taipei!” I shouted as I stride to the front. “Let me hear you!” I shouted again. My back up dancers started lining up so I started the song.   I travel way, way far Knowing I’d find you here Letting the booze take over I try to make it work I’d try over and over   All lost in the space with you Everything feels a loop to me Never ending sadness and pain Everything falls apart   Now that you’re not here with me. Lovely would be good for us Crashing over with friends Likely to overcome but no, I didn’t   I’d fall over and over for you I would never forget the time you told me I am always yours, forever   After finishing up my part and welcomed my partner for this song. “Give a shout to the one and only, HEAT” as he rap, I kind of just dance whatever that comes of my mind. It’s free dance time.   Great reminders, never to promise anything, anything Would rather be on the street (on the street) Anywhere that I could find Doable, livable, never been thankful What I got, a slap on the face About the night I promise, I’d go with you Anywhere you like, baby, great memories   Then went my part,   I travel way, way far Knowing I’d find you here Letting the booze take over I try to make it work I’d try over and over   All lost in the space with you Everything feels a loop to me Never ending sadness and pain Everything falls apart   Song after song, I’d run to the backstage to change. People are waiting to dress me up, to guide me, to protect me from danger and also my medical team. They provide oxygen, quick massage and other emergency stuff. I would crawl over to the backstage to drink water after every performance.   I would get really tired but this is the only time I can spend my time with my fans. All I could do is give them this time to bond with them. Finally, the show is over and I can tell that I am really drained from dancing. I would get the dance wrong but that’s fine, atleast not all the time. I always say this to my interviews. “Making mistakes ain’t a sin, forgiveness is there waiting for you”. No matter what you do, there are always consequences for your actions, the only thing that matter is if you can ask for apology and no need to wait for return forgiveness because forgiveness itself is already served, God made that possible.
