28 - Maeve Hobbling past the pier’s parking, I walked on until I came to the Safe Harbor Hotel at the end of the street, where the breaker wall started. Then, instead of entering the hotel, I turned to explore the wall that protected the marina like an extended arm. The rush of waves on its other side reminded me of the sound coming through my window. I had hoped to walk all the way to the light tower, but the winds carried too many droplets from the waves crashing on the barrier. Before getting thoroughly drenched in my summer clothes, I turned back. A row of benches lined the inner edge of the breaker wall, facing the marina and the pier.
