POV: Amber
Evening, the same day, I was pouring wine for a group of guests in the ballroom when the doors swung open and everyone went quiet at the same time. I glanced up, my heart suddenly racing as I saw him. Leonardo Wellington walking into the ballroom, his presence commanding attention without seeming to try. He is taller, more filled out than in my memories, but those piercing blue eyes were unmistakable. He scanned the room briefly, his gaze moving over the guests mingling with champagne glasses in hand.
I froze for a second, wine bottle poised mid-air. Leo is Here, he’s really here. My hands trembled slightly, but I forced myself to focus on the guests I was serving. Don't draw attention. I'm just a waiter. I continued pouring wine calmly, hoping my disguise held up. I hadn't expected him to look so...so put together. So confident. The Leo I remembered had been more laid-back, a high school senior with his whole future ahead. This Leo sure looks like a man with a purpose.
As he moved deeper into the ballroom, his eyes swept past me without a flicker of recognition. Of course. I'm in a waiter's uniform, and I did a f*****g surgery to change my looks. I’m wearing a disguise make-up to make me look different so when I board the cruise ship, nobody would recognize me as the waiter from the restaurant. I'm not the same girl he knew in high school. I’m hotter, and way sexier. But he doesn’t know that yet, I’m dressed like a f*****g waiter. I watched him covertly as he greeted other guests, smiling with an ease that seemed almost practiced now.
He laughed with a group of men in suits, discussing something in low tones. I wondered if he ever thought about high school anymore, about me and the humiliation I was subjected to by Alex and Marianne. I know those two are jerks, they can easily forget about me. But not, Leo too. We shared a special connection, we cared about each other deeply. If no one recognized me, he should. I’m wearing the same perfume that he used to love, and I’m putting on light make up, just the way he likes it.
He walked past me without a flicker of recognition in his eyes. Even when I poured wine into his glass, he still couldn’t recognize me. I guess my disguise is perfect for my mission. I just wish he had paid attention to me, even a little. I kept serving, moving between tables, refilling glasses, and clearing plates while stealing glances at Leo. He seemed at home among the elite, moving with a grace that made him blend in despite his striking features.
At one point, he turned toward the balcony overlooking the city, his expression momentarily serious as if lost in thought. For a flash, I thought I saw a shadow of something in his eyes, maybe a memory, maybe something more recent. Then he smiled again, back to mingling with his business partners and friends. Marianne and Alex came down with a few others. I saw them get off the elevator and I realized that if I ever want to get into their rooms, it’s got to be now.
I watched as Leo got up to welcome his woman, pulling her into his arms for a soft kiss. He is the perfect gentleman, I looked Jealousy as he pulled out her seat and let her seat comfortably before pushing it in gently. He brightens the moment she arrived and I hate her for being the one he loves. Alex caught me staring at them and he winked at me, trying to seduce me with his charms.
His fiancée caught him staring at me longingly and she glared daggers at me, giving me a warning glare to stay away from her man. I scoffed at her attitude, I guess her bestie Marianne did not tell her about her man’s philandering lifestyle. I looked away from them when a guest near me asked for more wine.
I turned to attend to the guest, breaking my focus on Leo. When I looked back toward the balcony area, Leo was gone. I scanned the ballroom quickly but didn't spot him among the guests anymore. Had he left, Or was he somewhere else in the hotel?
A shiver ran through me thinking about the possibility of running into him more closely. What if he walks in on me when I’m searching the rooms. How would I handle it? Pretend I was just a waiter? Avoid him?
I walked up to the supervisor and asked for a short bathroom break. As I walked to the elevator, spotted Leo walking towards the exit and I realized that he must be heading to the outdoor bar. I picked up my iPad from my office so I could monitor the cameras to see who was getting into the elevator. I first went to Leo’s suite that he shares with Marianne.
I inserted my flash five into Marianne’s laptop and I downloaded everything into the flash drive. It’s funny how she still uses the same password from high school. It was so easy to get access to her laptop. I found a few files pertaining to Leo’s business and I snapped and saved them on my laptop. A part of me felt guilty for invading Leo’s privacy. Hell, I didn’t even want to go though his laptop at first.
But I recalled the many times that Marianne borrows his laptop for her personal use. I want to know everything she is planning. So I hacked his laptop too, downloading all the information I could find into a flash drive. When I was done, I sneaked into Alex’s suite to do the same thing. But to my surprise I couldn’t find his laptop anywhere in his suite.
I checked everywhere I thought it could be, but it wasn’t there. I checked his wardrobe, his drawers, his briefcase. I found nothing bit even a document to look through. Just when I wanted to check through his trolley bags, the front door was opened from the outside, and he walked into the room and caught me holding his trolley bag and struggling to get it open.
I gulped down saliva as our eyes met and held for a few minutes. He noticed my panicked look and smirked at me, enjoying my misery.
“You silly, little thief!
I could have given you everything you asked for if you just gave me some sugar. But you turned me down and pretended not to care about me or my money. Now, I come in here and find you trying to steal my money?” he asked in disgust, feigning hurt. Before I could register what he is talking about, he threw a few wads of cash my way and took a few pictures before I could understand what he is trying to do.
“You stole from me, waiter, and I caught you fair and square. Now, why don’t you take off your clothes and get on the bed, pretty. Give me some sugar and we’ll forgot this ever happened.” He told me as he licked his lips longingly.
“Give me some sugar, baby. Make me happy and we’ll forgot this ever happened.” He told me as he licked his lips longingly, drawing his finger on my face lazily.
