(William’s POV) The door stood wide open after Angela left, and all I could see was the white glow from the corridor’s ceiling lights. For a moment, I just sat there, unsure of what to do, listening to the sound of her footsteps fade down the hall. The silence that followed carried a strange weight, pressing in from every side, thicker than the furniture around me. My hands were still resting on my knees, as if my body hadn’t yet caught up with the fact that she was no longer in the room.
