Between Two Names

1696 Words

(Angela’s POV) Waking up in one of the rooms in William’s mansion only pushed my thoughts back to Jonathan. The life I once dreamed of—every part of it—was meant to be with him. He was, and still is, my muse. Jonathan, with his calm presence and unwavering patience. The man who saw strength in me when I couldn’t see it myself. The man I once pictured forever with. The man I never trusted as deeply as I should have. And now, here I was. Married. Spending the night under William Briggs’s roof. Bearing the surname of a man I never envisioned in my life. I hadn’t yet figured out how to make things right—how to properly apologize and reconcile with Jonathan. For marrying someone else. For letting everything we’d built crumble in the chaos of legal contracts and unsettling revelations.
