Chapter Nineteen - Disruption

Chapter Nineteen

I took a pregnancy test immediately the next morning. Wolves couldn't use contraception, but Seth and I were only having s*x once a month and he was pulling out – the best thing we could do to prevent pregnancy.

I stared at the test while it processed.

“Staring at it won't make it go faster.” Kayne said with a light laugh.

“I can try!” I said. I kept staring.

Within a few minutes, I saw a second line appear on the test.

“Fuck.” I said. I felt emotion grow in my chest and I started crying. How could I be pregnant? How could I be having Seth's baby? Luka wasn't even a year old.. He needed me right now. I couldn't have another baby. I didn't think I wanted any children that were not Kayne's.

“Hey, hey, it's alright.” Kayne said. He pulled me in to a tight hug.

“Do you hate me?” I cried.

“Of course not.” He kissed me.

“I didn't mean for this to happen.” I said.

“I know sweetie. It's okay, it was a risk I knew I was taking by allowing it.” He said calmly.

“I can't tell him.” I said. “He just got married. He just got married literally yesterday.”

“You have options.”

I shot him a look. “I'm keeping the baby.”

“I know – I would not want you to do anything else. We can say it's mine, he would never need to know otherwise if that's what you really wanted. However, I think it's important he knows he's a father, Bria. I'd want to know.” He told me firmly.

“You'd say it was yours?” I asked. I did not deserve this man.

“I would do whatever made you happy, my love.” He said. “I'm with you, every step of this. Just like last time.”

Once I got my wits about me, I thought about it long and hard. I agreed, I should tell Seth. He should know about his child. I didn't want to disrupt him and Makayla, though. I didn't want anything to change in our dynamic. I didn't want to have to leave Kayne more often or disrupt what Seth and Makayla had so that we could raise a child together. I didn't know what our lives would look like.

“I want to tell everyone it's yours.” I spoke up.

“Okay. I called Elder Leon to come see us. I'm not sure what that would mean for the baby's place in this pack. You are originally from Earth Moon and Seth is still a part of that pack. I'm not sure what we would need to do to make the baby a Fire Moon.” Kayne said.

As if on queue, Elder Leon knocked. We welcomed him in.

“What seems to be the problem, Alpha?” Elder Leon said.

“I need to make sure this remains private, Elder. At any cost.” Kayne said.

“Yes. What is going on?” Leon sat, we took seats across from him.

“Bria is originally from Earth Moon. She is not my mate, but we married for alliance with Earth Moon. Her natural mate, Seth, is still the Beta, or will be when he takes over from his father, for Earth Moon. Bria became pregnant by him. They were mating still, with my permission. We would like to raise the baby as mine, Bria doesn't want Seth to know the baby is his.” Kayne explained.

“Complicated, indeed.” Leon said. “Do you know the s*x of the baby, Miss Bria?”

“I don't, sir. I just found out about the pregnancy this morning.” I said.

“If the baby is a boy, and the first born boy to Seth... He will have to know. He is the Beta of Earth Moon, and since Luka is Kayne's biological first-born son, he will take over as Alpha here in Fire Moon. Since you two are not natural mates, Kayne technically has no pack-ties to the new baby. If it is a boy, he will need to be with Earth Moon once he is an adult and take over as Beta from Seth. If it is a girl... there will be no issues unless Seth has no sons.” Elder Leon said.

“No.” I gasped. I had not considered.

“If you want my advice, Alpha, Luna... I would bring Seth today. Do not hesitate. Respectfully, it is a bad idea to keep this from him. You will need to make arrangements for the baby if it is a boy... do not put yourself through that pressure right after birth. Do it now.” Leon said.

“I'll go to call him now. Thank you, Elder Leon.” Kayne said. I began to protest. “Bria. I'm sorry. He is right. I will be here for you, I will raise the baby with you. I will raise this pup as my own, I won't treat them differently from Luka. I promise, this IS my baby, in every sense except biologically. Unfortunately, that is going to make a difference due to Seth's rank in his pack. We need to tell him and we need to start sorting this sooner rather than later. If there are any issues, we'll need to resolve them.”

He was right. I couldn't argue.

“Seth? Hey, it's Kayne. How quickly can you get here? It's urgent.” Kayne hung up. “He'll be here in an hour. He's bringing Ben, since that is the Alpha that will serve. They're going to bring Kai, their will-be Delta. I'm calling Cameron and James.” Cameron and James were his Beta and Delta.

Soon, Cameron and James were coming through the door.

“I'll see you in the meeting room. I'd like to remind you that everything that gets said in here is not to be shared with the pack, even your wives. It is confidential and leaking of this information will cost you your place in the pack and possibly your life. Got it?” Kayne said. They could not disobey their alpha, and nodded in agreement before going into the meeting room.

“Bria, when Seth gets here, send Ben and Kai in here. You talk to Seth, and then I'll come get him. You come get me the moment you need me.” Kayne said.

I felt like I was going to pass out. Kayne had taken Luka to Brin, Cameron's mate. The Beta female. She would nurse him and care for him while we handled this. I paced the kitchen and tried to listen to what was going on in the meeting room. Cameron and James seemed shocked but remained respectful. I couldn't make out every word. 

A knock at the door made me jump. I answered it to see my brother, Ben, flanked by Seth and Kai. I let them in.

“Ben, Kai, Kayne is waiting for you in the meeting room, through that door.” I said. I pointed them where they needed to go. “Seth, can I talk to you?”

We waited for the men to go into the meeting room and shut the door. “What's going on?” Seth asked.

“I'm... I'm pregnant, Seth. Kayne and I haven't had s*x in months. It's your baby.” I managed to blurt out quickly, all at once.

Seth growled. It was terrifying. “No. Tell me you're lying.” He grabbed my shoulder.

“I'm not lying.” I handed him the test out of my back pocket. “Kayne will confirm. I'm not lying. I'm pregnant with your baby.”

“Makayla just found out a few days before our wedding. She's having my baby, Bria. You can't be.” He said.

“I'm sorry. I am. Congratulations, though, to her, as well.” I said.

Seth was gripping my shoulder too tight. “This wasn't supposed to happen. You have to get rid of it.” He yelled at me.

Kayne came out of the meeting room, snarling. He crossed the room at lightening speed and pushed Seth away from me. He turned to me briefly.

“Are you okay?” He asked. I said I was. He turned to Seth. “That is your pup in there, Beta, I suggest you check your tone immediately.”

Ben stepped in. “Get in here. Now. We will discuss this.” Seth could not go against Ben's orders.
