Chapter Two - Revelation

1104 Words
“Hi, daddy.” I said, greeting my father. “Hello, Elder Jonathan.” I said. Elder Jonathan was the Elder of Love. There was another wolf there that I didn't know. “Hello, Alpha, Elder.” Seth said from behind me, bowing his head slightly to show respect. “I didn't expect you, Seth, but you're welcome to stay.” My father said, casting me a side eye. “I'm sorry, dad, I thought this was about our mating ceremony next Saturday.” I told him. The room grew silent. “Well, sweetheart. In a way, it is.” He said. I got excited again, and took a seat. Seth sat next to me on the small leather couch and I snuggled in close to him, pulling his arm around me and hooking a leg over his. “Okay, what's up?” I asked. “Bria, this is Alpha Kayne from the Fire Moon pack.” My dad said. “They are our rivals.” I hissed. Why would our rival pack's Alpha be here? “It's nice to meet you, Bria.” Kayne said while rising from his own chair to extend a hand to me. I allowed him to take my hand, which he pulled to his mouth and dropped his head to kiss it. Seth growled. My father gave him a look to silence him. “As you know, Bria, our pack has been in a rivalry with the Fire Moon pack for many generations. Having them as our ally now can only benefit our pack. Alpha Kayne asked for a favor in return for an alliance. In his pack, almost all of the females already have mates. Several of his men are mates to those in our pack, and those of neighboring packs. It doesn't happen often, but we've agreed to allow our females to join their pack to be with their mates. I've also agreed to allow Alpha Kayne to marry you. You will have a mating ceremony a few days after your 18th birthday.” My dad explained. I felt like I was going to pass out. “No... Seth is my mate. Elder Jonathan told us.” I argued. I felt like I couldn't catch my breath. My cheeks got hot and I continued feeling faint. “I understand, but we're doing this for the good of our pack.” My father said. “I won't.” I told him. Seth was squeezing me close to him. “You will, or you will be banished and live with the rogues.” My father yelled, now, standing from his seat slightly. “I am your Alpha and your father, and you will do what I say. This is your duty to your pack, Bria.” I began crying, I buried my face into Seth's neck. He held my head, pulling my close to him. He had stayed silent – he knew he couldn't say anything. His father was Beta, and he was next in line for that. “Sir... I'd like to speak with my father, please.” Seth said. “No, you can't leave.” I begged him. “Just for a moment, babe. I'll be back with you tonight... won't I?” He asked, looking at my father. I knew what he was really asking. “Yes, please, take a few days. I know this isn't easy, and if I had another choice...” Kayne said. “Thank you.” Seth cut him off and exited the room. “What do you mean, you have no choice? This was your idea.” I shouted. “Bria, have some respect.” My father said. “No, Alpha, it's alright. My mate passed away, unfortunately, a few years ago. My mate would need to have Alpha blood to replace her, you're the only daughter of an Alpha in any nearby packs. I am sorry that you will be away from your mate, love, but I promise, I will do what I can to make up for it.” Kayne said. “What about Seth?” I whispered. “He will have no mate.” Elder Jonathan spoke up. “You do not get a second mate.” “He'll be alone? That's not fair.” I said. I was crying at this point. “Yes. He will be alone.” Elder Jonathan confirmed. “We all make sacrifices for our pack.” My father said. “You'll have no Beta female.” I said. “We'll survive. The Delta female can help both with their work.” My father said, the Delta was the third in command. “How can I be away from him? Mates are linked for life, with or without a mating ceremony. That just solidifies a bond that has always been there. How does this work?” I asked. “You will not feel the natural bond with Alpha Kayne that you do with Seth. You will not lose your love or bond with Seth. The mating ceremony you have with Kayne, will just make you a part of his pack and the Alpha female. The love will need to grow. You will not stop loving Seth, nor will he stop loving you. You will still be mates. No one is saying this is natural. We've only ever had a few cases where someone does not marry their natural mate.” Elder Jonathan explained.  “When?” I squeaked out. “You won't be 18 for another week. You'll go on your 18th birthday.” My father said. “You can come that night, if you'd like. I wouldn't want to spoil your day.” Kayne said. “Okay. Will that be all?” I asked. “Yes. That will be all.” My father said. I exited his office and closed the door behind me. My mother was waiting at the table with a cup of tea. “You knew?” I asked her. “That's why you told me not to have s*x with Seth. You knew for so long and didn't tell me.” “Somethings are for the best, sweetie.” She said. Not this. * Seth came back and explained what he had spoken to his father about. Basically, his father was also aware and didn't say anything, and encouraged him that he could be a great Beta alone, and his family would be there for him to help with being alone. I told him what Elder Jonathan had said about how he could never find another mate. We cried a lot of the night. My heart hurt.
