CHAPTER TWELVE Remi gazed at the burned church as Sergeant Esposito parked the police car across the street. It was a simple Baroque structure, large but rather unadorned. While some examples of the Baroque were overly decorated and ended up exhausting the eye with color and detail, this church kept the general lines of Baroque architecture without the expensive frills, as if the patron wanted it to look grand but did not want to spend too much money.
