It turned out she didn’t have to.
The door burst open, and Daniel rushed through, his g*n leveled.
“Freeze!”
Remi didn’t bother to see if the giant priest chasing her had listened. She kept on running until she got to the doorway, and behind Daniel.
Only then did she stop and turn, panting, terrified, ready to run again.
The priest, along with the other two men in view, all had their hands up.
“I don’t know who was chasing my partner but I’m guessing it was you,” Daniel said, stalking forward until he had his g*n pointing between the big priest’s eyes. Remi noticed that Daniel stopped just out of the man’s reach. She’d have to remember that. Daniel taught her so much without his even being aware.
