I watched as tears streamed down my cheeks, my whole body shaking with sobs. "How could you do this to me, Grandma? How could you make a deal with my parents' murderer? How could you keep this from me?"
"I'm sorry, Pearl," my grandmother whispered, her voice raw with emotion.
"I know I've failed you. But I was only trying to protect you, to give you a chance at a life free from the violence and cruelty of the pack”
“I've suffered all my life..” I stammered feeling a lump form in my throat.
My grandmother's heart broke at the sight of my pain and tears. "I know," she said, her voice trembling. "I'm so sorry for the pain and confusion I've caused you, my dear. But please, you must understand. I never meant for any of this to happen. I just wanted to keep you safe."
