📺 FROM: The Town That Eats Time Season One – Episode 8: “Ashes of the Forgotten” FADE IN: INT. DINER – NIGHT The survivors huddle in silence. The whispers outside fade. Only Clara’s soft muttering fills the room. CLARA (40s, ragged, trembling) clutches her knees. CLARA It always takes one. That’s how the Hollow feeds. Mara kneels by her, calm but insistent. MARA What do you mean “takes one”? Clara’s eyes flick up, haunted. CLARA When the bell tolls… someone pays. That’s the rule no one tells you. The group exchanges uneasy looks. CALEB (30s, cocky but shaken) scoffs. CALEB So what — the town needs a sacrifice? That’s insane. ELLEN (50s, shotgun resting on the counter) fixes him with a glare. ELLEN You think what we’ve seen makes sense? The bell tolls faintly in the distance. Everyone flinches. EXT. MAIN STREET – DAWN The mist burns away. Survivors emerge cautiously. The town looks almost peaceful in daylight. JALEN (40s, soldier) leads, eyes sharp. IVY (17, restless) notices a faint trail of ash drifting down the street. IVY (whispers) Uh… guys? They follow the ash — a gray trail leading toward the edge of town. EXT. OLD HOUSE – DAY They arrive at a collapsed house. The roof burned, walls charred. A smell of smoke still lingers. Mara steps carefully through the ruins. She finds a small wooden toy, blackened by fire. MARA Someone lived here. Clara stands at the doorway, trembling. CLARA (whispering) This was them. The ones who thought they could cheat the clock. The group stares at her. CLARA (cont’d) They stopped the bell. For one night, they thought they were free. She kneels, brushing ash from the floor. Beneath it: a cracked pocket watch. CLARA (cont’d, terrified) The Hollow burned them for it. All of them. Children too. A heavy silence. Ivy grips Mara’s arm, shaken. EXT. TOWN SQUARE – DAY The group gathers near the CLOCKTOWER, looming tall and silent. Its hands spin backward. CALEB If this place punishes rule-breakers… what happens if we break the clock? ELLEN You want to find out? Be my guest. Mara glares at them both, cutting in. MARA No. We don’t even know what keeps it running. Clara suddenly speaks up, voice sharp. CLARA You don’t break it. You listen. The bell tells you what it wants. Everyone stares at her. JALEN And what happens if we don’t give it what it wants? Clara’s haunted eyes flick toward him. CLARA Then it takes more. INT. BOARDING HOUSE – AFTERNOON The survivors sit around a long table. Food cans half-empty. Tension thick. CALEB slams a tin down. CALEB We can’t live like this. Rules on the walls, hiding like rats. ELLEN That’s exactly how you live. Or you don’t live at all. CALEB (angrily) And what happens when the bell decides it wants one of us, huh? Who decides who dies? The room goes silent. All eyes shift toward Clara. She doesn’t answer. Just stares at the wall, rocking. IVY suddenly bursts up, frustrated. IVY (to Mara) He’s right. If the Hollow wants blood, how long before it’s me? Or you? She storms out. EXT. OUTSKIRTS – LATE AFTERNOON Ivy wanders alone, knife in hand, muttering under her breath. IVY Screw the rules. Screw the bell. She hears laughter — her sister’s voice again. SISTER’S VOICE (O.S.) Ivy… don’t run from me. Ivy freezes. Heart racing. She spins — but sees only mist rolling in early. Suddenly, a HAND grips her shoulder. It’s JALEN. JALEN (urgent) Never split off. You’ll get yourself killed. Ivy jerks away, eyes wet. IVY Maybe that’s the point. Jalen softens, lowering his voice. JALEN No. The point is to outlast this place. That’s the only win. Ivy stares at him, shaken but listening. EXT. CLOCKTOWER – SUNSET The survivors regroup, watching as the last light fades. The bell begins to toll. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. Clara drops to her knees, sobbing. CLARA (chanting) Blood for time. Blood for time. Suddenly — Caleb steps forward, defiant. CALEB You want blood? Take mine. I’m not afraid. He slices his palm, dripping blood onto the dirt. Everyone gasps. The bell STOPS mid-toll. Silence. Then — the ground trembles. The clock hands spin violently backward. Windows rattle. Clara screams. CLARA You fool! It’s never enough! From the shadows — figures emerge. Pale. Smiling. Dozens. ELLEN c***s her shotgun. ELLEN (to Caleb, furious) You just fed it. Now it’s hungry. EXT. TOWN SQUARE – NIGHT Chaos erupts. Creatures circle the group. The bell resumes — tolling louder, faster. Mara drags Ivy toward cover. Jalen fires his pistol, dropping two. Ellen blasts with her shotgun. Caleb stumbles, bleeding, laughing in terror. CALEB (half-crazed) See? It worked! It listened to me! A creature grabs him, dragging him toward the mist. CALEB screams as he disappears into the fog. His voice cuts off. The bell tolls one final time — then silence. The creatures vanish as quickly as they appeared. The survivors stand trembling in the ruined square. Clara falls to her knees, whispering: CLARA The clock’s still hungry. It always will be. Mara stares up at the looming tower. Determined. MARA (whispering to herself) Then we find a way to starve it. FADE OUT. TITLE CARD: “NEXT TIME ON FROM” • Ivy clutching the cracked pocket watch. • Ellen shouting: “This town will eat us alive!” • Jalen holding Clara back from something unseen. • The clocktower door creaking open.
