📺 Episode 10 – “The Clocktower” FADE IN: EXT. CLOCKTOWER – MORNING The survivors stand at the base of Ebon Hollow’s looming clocktower. Its hands tick backward, echoing through the town like a heartbeat. IVY (staring up) If this place runs on rules… maybe the clock’s the one keeping score. Ellen glares at her, exhausted and limping from the woods. ELLEN Or maybe it’s just telling us how much time we’ve already lost. Mara exchanges a look with Jalen. They know they have to climb it. INT. CLOCKTOWER – STAIRWELL – DAY The group ascends spiral stairs, each level revealing stranger sights: • Rooms filled with broken mirrors reflecting things that aren’t there. • Old portraits of smiling townsfolk whose eyes follow them. • A child’s toy horse rocking slowly, though untouched. Ivy pauses at one mirror — it shows her mother, smiling, reaching. Mara yanks her away. INT. CLOCKTOWER – MECHANISM ROOM – DAY Massive gears grind backward, dripping oil like blood. The ticking is deafening. Suddenly, a figure steps from the shadows: A MAN IN BLACK (50s, gaunt, suit too clean for this place). He smiles politely. MAN IN BLACK You shouldn’t be here. This tower… isn’t for you. The group freezes. He doesn’t move like the creatures outside — but his smile is just as wrong. JALEN (low, steady) Who the hell are you? MAN IN BLACK A caretaker. I keep the town running. And you? You’re breaking things. He gestures at the gears. One is cracked. The clock shudders. MAN IN BLACK (cont’d) Sooner or later, the Hollow eats what doesn’t belong. INT. CLOCKTOWER – TOP LEVEL – DAY The survivors rush past him, climbing to the bell chamber. The view stretches over the whole town: endless fog, looping roads, no way out. Ivy stares down. IVY We’re ants in a jar. The bell TOLLS suddenly — deafening. Mara clutches her head. Flash images flood her vision: • The bus appearing in the fog. • A child screaming. • Ellen kneeling over a grave. • The Man in Black, watching them arrive. Then silence. INT. CLOCKTOWER – STAIRS – DESCENT They hurry down. The Man in Black is gone. But on the wall where he stood: words scratched deep into the stone. “TIME IS THE CAGE.” The survivors exchange uneasy looks. EXT. CLOCKTOWER – DUSK Back on the street, the town feels heavier, darker. The bell toll echoes faintly, though the tower is still. Mara whispers to herself. MARA We’re not trapped here by monsters. We’re trapped by time. Ellen looks at her, eyes hollow. ELLEN Same thing. The fog rolls closer. Night is coming. FADE OUT. END OF EPISODE 10 ⚡ Episode 10 introduces the Man in Black, a mysterious caretaker who hints the town itself is a machine — and time is its prison.
