Elysia POV “You think you can just stroll back here like nothing ever happened?” I froze, my steps halting as the sharp voice echoed through the thick trees of the Forbidden Forest. My heart thudded loudly in my chest. I should have known better. Vespera was always lurking close by, ready to strike. Turning slowly, I met her gaze, my muscles tense and my heart pounding. She stood there, a cruel smirk plastered across her face, looking as confident and smug as ever. “You’ve got some nerve, Elysia,” Vespera hissed, her icy tone cutting through the still air. She straightened her posture, radiating arrogance as if she were already crowned queen of the pack. “I’m not here for you,” I said through clenched teeth, keeping my fists tightly balled at my sides. I didn’t want her to see how her presence still shook me to my core. “You never were,” she retorted, a mocking laugh escaping her lips. Her steps were slow and deliberate as she approached me, her heels clicking against the forest floor. “Draven should never have chosen you in the first place. You were just an inconvenience, a mistake that shouldn’t have happened.” Her words were like knives, stabbing at every vulnerable part of me. My jaw hardened as I fought to keep my composure, my hands trembling with the effort to stay still. How could she say these things so easily, twisting the truth like it was nothing? “You’re pathetic, Elysia,” she spat, her words dripping with venom. “You really thought you were special, didn’t you? That you were important to him? But the truth is, Draven never really loved you. He was only trying to keep you around for a while, make you feel useful. But me? I’m his true mate. I’m the one who belongs by his side. I’m the future Luna. You? You were never meant to be anything at all.” Each word she spoke was like a slap to my face, leaving a sting that felt impossible to ignore. My breaths came faster, my chest rising and falling as anger and hurt swirled together inside me. Deep down, I knew she was right about one thing—Draven had never fully chosen me, not really. “I gave him everything,” I muttered, the words slipping from my lips as if I wasn’t even aware I was speaking. My voice was soft, filled with the ache of betrayal. Vespera’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction, and her smirk deepened. “Oh, I know you did,” she sneered. “And you know what’s even better? He gave me everything. He told me everything, too. He said you were just a temporary distraction. A little plaything to satisfy his curiosity. He even described how you begged for more, how pathetic you looked in his arms.” My blood boiled. Every muscle in my body burned with fury. How could Draven let this happen? How could he betray me so completely? “I was never just a distraction,” I growled, my voice trembling with rage. I stepped closer to her, my claws threatening to emerge. My chest heaved as the anger surged through me like a storm I couldn’t contain. “I was supposed to be his mate, his future!” Vespera tilted her head back and let out a harsh, mocking laugh. “A future he’s already forgotten,” she said cruelly, her grin widening. That was it. I couldn’t hold back anymore. The anger, the humiliation, the heartbreak—it all exploded at once. With a roar, I lunged at her, my hands reaching for her throat, my claws ready to shred the smug look off her face. But I never made it. Before I could touch her, strong hands grabbed me from both sides, yanking me back with a force that knocked the air out of my lungs. “Enough!” one of the guards barked, his grip on my arm so tight it felt like a steel vice. “Get her under control before she hurts someone!” I thrashed and screamed, desperate to break free, but it was useless. Their hold on me was unrelenting, their strength overpowering mine. “Let me go!” I shouted, my voice hoarse with desperation. “She’s lying! Draven chose her, but he doesn’t know the truth. She’s the one who’s ruining everything!” The guards didn’t respond. They didn’t even look at me as they pinned me to the ground, my face pressed against the cold earth. My body trembled with the weight of my rage and sorrow. Vespera stood over me, her arms crossed and her expression one of pure triumph. She had won, and she knew it. “I think it’s time Draven knows about this little incident,” she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction. “She’s become a danger to the pack, a threat to everything we’ve worked for.” The guards hauled me to my feet, dragging me through the forest with rough, unkind hands. I didn’t have the strength to fight anymore. My body was drained, and my spirit felt shattered into pieces. As they pulled me closer to the palace gates, Vespera’s words echoed in my mind like a cruel taunt. She’s dangerous. She’s a threat. She’s unstable. By the time we reached the pack house, I was barely aware of my surroundings. My legs felt heavy, my breaths shallow. When Draven’s voice finally came, it was like a dagger straight to my heart. “I’ve been informed by Vespera,” he said, his tone cold and detached, “that Elysia is unstable and dangerous. She attacked the future Luna, and we cannot allow such behavior in the pack.” His words hit me harder than any physical blow ever could. “Effective immediately,” he continued, “Elysia is banished from this pack. She is no longer one of us.” I stared at him, my vision blurred with tears. “Draven, please,” I whispered, my voice cracking. “You don’t have to do this.” But he didn’t even glance in my direction. Instead, he turned to Vespera, placing his hand on her shoulder as if to solidify her position at his side. “Take her away,” he said simply. “And make sure she never returns.” Vespera gave me one last look, her grin widening. “Goodbye, Elysia,” she said, her voice mocking and cruel. “Maybe now you’ll learn your place.” The guards shoved me out of the gates, their hands rough as they forced me into the wilderness. When the gates slammed shut behind me, the sound was like the final nail in the coffin of the life I once knew. I stumbled forward, my knees giving out as I fell onto the cold, unforgiving ground. Tears streamed down my face as the weight of everything crashed down on me. I had lost everything—my pack, my place, the man I loved. But as the darkness of the Forbidden Forest stretched out before me, something inside me began to change. The pain in my heart twisted into something else, anger. They thought I was broken. They thought I was finished. But they were wrong. Clenching my fists, I rose to my feet, the fire in my chest burning brighter than ever. “I’ll make them pay,” I whispered to the night. And with that, I stepped into the shadows, ready to become something stronger, something more dangerous than they could ever imagine.
