The Shadow Army Returns The peace they had fought so hard to earn did not last. Three years had passed since the fall of the Shadow Spirit. The Moon Kingdom flourished beneath the rule of King Kael and Queen Lyria. Villages had been rebuilt, trade had returned, and laughter once again echoed through the forests. Within the royal palace, their triplets filled every corridor with life. Aiden, the eldest, possessed his father's fearless spirit. Alaric, the second son, was calm and thoughtful beyond his years. Little Lyra, their only daughter, carried the same silver eyes as her mother. Watching them grow had become Lyria's greatest joy. For the first time in generations, the kingdom truly knew peace. Or so they believed. Far beneath the Northern Mountains, inside a forgotten chamber hidden from the world, a fragment of black mist drifted through the darkness. It had survived. The final piece of the Shadow Spirit. The mist slipped onto an ancient stone altar covered in strange symbols. The chamber trembled. A deep, chilling voice echoed through the darkness. "So... they believe they have won." The black mist slowly gathered into the shape of a hand before disappearing into the altar. "The true war... has only just begun." At that very moment, the Shadow Dragon suddenly opened its enormous silver eyes. It released a long, uneasy growl that shook the palace grounds. Lyria froze. She was standing on the palace balcony when a sharp pain spread through the crescent mark on her wrist. The silver mark glowed brightly. She pressed a trembling hand against it. "No..." Kael hurried outside after hearing the dragon's roar. "Lyria." She turned toward him. "The darkness..." "It isn't gone." Before Kael could answer, the sky suddenly darkened. The bright morning sun disappeared behind unnatural black clouds. Cold winds swept across the kingdom. Every wolf within the palace looked upward. A loud horn sounded from the eastern watchtower. Then another. And another. A guard burst into the courtyard, struggling to catch his breath. "Your Majesty!" Kael stepped forward. "What happened?" "The Northern Mountains..." The guard's face had gone completely pale. "They're moving." Silence fell. "The mountains cannot move," one commander whispered. The guard swallowed hard. "They're not the mountains." "They're soldiers." Kael and Lyria rushed to the highest tower. When they reached the walls, every breath left their lungs. The horizon had vanished beneath an endless sea of black armor. Thousands. No... Hundreds of thousands. Shadow warriors marched across the land like an unstoppable tide. Their empty red eyes burned with hatred. Towering beasts made of darkness walked among them, each larger than the palace itself. Above the army, black birds circled endlessly, blotting out what remained of the sunlight. Lyria felt ice spread through her veins. "How is this possible?" The Shadow Dragon landed heavily beside the tower. Its silver scales shimmered as it stared toward the approaching army. Instead of roaring... It lowered its head. Almost as if it recognized what was coming. An elderly guardian slowly approached Kael. His hands shook. "I have seen those banners before." Kael frowned. "What banners?" The old guardian pointed toward the front of the marching army. There, carried by towering shadow warriors, fluttered black flags marked with a crimson eclipse. The old guardian's eyes filled with horror. "Those are the banners of the Shadow Kingdom." Kael's expression hardened. "I've never heard of such a kingdom." "Because it was erased from history." The old guardian lowered his voice. "Our ancestors believed they destroyed the Shadow Spirit centuries ago." "They were wrong." "They merely sealed away its empire." Lyria looked toward the endless army. "If the Shadow Spirit is dead..." "Who commands them now?" No one answered. A deafening horn echoed across the valley. The massive army stopped marching. For several terrifying moments... Everything became silent. Then the ground split open. A gigantic throne of black stone rose from the earth. Someone was sitting upon it. The figure wore dark armor unlike anything they had ever seen. His face remained hidden beneath a hood of living shadows. Only two piercing golden eyes could be seen beneath the darkness. The stranger slowly stood. Even from miles away, Kael could feel an overwhelming pressure crashing against his soul. The mysterious ruler raised one hand. The entire Shadow Army knelt before him. His voice rolled across the kingdom like thunder. "Bring me the Moon Queen." "And leave no one alive who stands in my way." The Shadow Army charged.
