Chapter 2

Mira rolled to her side and vomited. What ever drug they gave her was taking its revenge now. She opened her eyes only to be met with a blurry image, not knowing how long she had been out. Her head pounded, and she was cold. Slowly, she recognized her surroundings and cried. She had hoped to awaken from the nightmare, dismayed to find it was her reality. She didn’t know how long they had trapped her there. Days, maybe weeks. She could no longer tell. Each day had blurred into the next. She wiped the hair stuck to her face because of the blood and looked around the room. It was the same tiny room, brick walls painted light gray and a concrete floor with a drain. The only thing in the room was the filthy mattress on the floor. She could tell she was in a room in a basement. There was a small dirty window near the ceiling. She noticed she was wearing the costume they forced her to wear; it was a slutty angel costume, it still had the wings sewn on the back. It was to her horror when she realized all she was wearing was the torn costume and no panties. It hit her; They had violated her. Her head and ribs hurt, feeling like a truck had hit her. She rolled on to her back, put her hands over her face and sobbed. One mental image after another of her assault came back to her memory, although she wished she could just forget. The pieces played back to her mind. She remembered the struggle, two men wearing devil masks and a third man filming the atrocities taking place. They were all laughing as cheering each other on. Suddenly, she remembered why they drugged her. She had fought back and bit one man while he was on top of her. She bit him on his shoulder and tore at his skin, making him scream. His associates laughed harder at the display. It pissed him off when she spit the blood on his face. It was then she got a syringe to the neck and a savage beating. Dread washed over her when she realized the sun was setting out the small window that provided the only light. They seemed to only come at night and knew she wasn’t the only woman being held. She could hear the desperate cries and pleas from other women outside her room. All she could do was cry and wish to be home with her mother. Something was different in the air tonight, though. Mira couldn’t tell why. The energy was different, and she was starving. She had gotten used to not eating after a couple of days, but her hunger now was ravenous. The apprehension building in her was driving her insane. The strange part was, she could feel a powerful presence of someone in the room with her, but she was clearly alone. A scream caught her attention. “No! Please! Just let me go!” cried the voice. Fear gripped her as she understood what was happening. Nightly filming has begun. It was only a matter of time before they got to her, sending sheer panic down her spine. There was no way she was letting those bastards r**e her again. She would make them kill her first. The anxiety was killing her. She got up from the mattress and went to the door, pressing her ear against it. She could hear two men, which was usual when they came to take a girl to another location. They filmed, then put her back in her room. Something was different. Not with the men, or the pleading women, but it was with Mira herself. Something in her felt electrified. She walked to the small window to see if there was a way for her to get out. There wasn’t, but something else caught her eye. She saw the full moon through the dirty window; it brought her instant peace and clarity. She stood there, staring and entranced. She watched the moon rise higher in the darkened sky. Every moment that passed, something felt more off. Strange shooting tingles traveled down her arms and legs, and her stomach dropped as she shook. Something was wrong. She fell to her knees, struggling to breathe. She let out a light moan, then a scream. Pain wracked her deep in her bones as they cracked. It felt like her hips dislocated, and the dull ache in her legs grew intensely. Nausea set in as she salivated. She staggered to the door, pleading for help. She thought maybe she was having a seizure or a reaction to the drugs. She stumbled, catching herself at the door and went to bang as loud as she could, gathering any strength she had left. She saw her arms beating on the door, only they weren’t her arms. Her fingers grew before her eyes, becoming elongated and clawed. The hair was sprouting so quickly, she could see it as it came in. Her salivating got worse as she felt like her teeth were falling out. She ran her tongue along the front of her teeth and felt fangs as they descended. She put her hands to her mouth as her teeth pushed forward. “WHAT THE f**k IS HAPPENING TO ME!?” she screamed as she fell to the ground terrified of what was happening, withering in pain. Her heart was racing. Suddenly, she let out a low growl, coming from the pit of her stomach. Her screams became uncontrollable. “Hey, shut the f**k up in there!” came a voice from outside the door. “Grrrr...elp me pleas...grrrowll!” Mira pleaded. The pain of what was happening terrified her. She could feel her heart pounding and she got to her feet and tried to run, like any trapped animal in a cage would. Horrified, she couldn’t catch her breath and fell to the ground on her knees. The sound of her bones crunching turned her stomach, and she vomited a little again. She began pounding on the walls and thrashing around the room. She could hear the angel costume rip while her body grew. A moment later, the door to her room flung open. “I SAID SHUT THE f**k UP IN.... OH MY GOD! HEY MAN, SHES TURNING IN HERE!” The man backed up to the door as fast as he could to get it closed, but it was too late. Mira charged him, but it wasn’t Mira, exactly. She was in there, and could see through the eyes of whatever it was, but she was merely a passenger inside it now. She had no control; the thing moved and thought for her. Her vision was sharp, and her sense of smell and hearing unparalleled. She grabbed his head, pulled him to her and chomped down on his neck, blood squirting everywhere. The sound of his bones crunching and his screams were music to her ears. The blood that had rushed into her mouth and down her throat quenched the hunger the beast had. Mira dropped his lifeless body on the floor. She dropped to all fours and kicked him with her hind leg as she stepped from her room out to the hall. She saw another man a few feet away, his mouth open. He was too frightened to move. Scared s**t less would be a more accurate description. It wouldn’t have mattered, anyway. There was no way he could outrun her. She charged at him full force, tearing into his chest, ripping his heart out and eating it while he screamed. Mira left the body on the floor, in its pool of blood, and proceeded down the hall until she came to a staircase leading up to a door. Suddenly, the door opened and the look of a horrified man stood before her. She charged up the stairs, sinking her teeth into the man’s shoulder, knocking him down. She looked up and saw the front door. The creature bolted to it with her weight and full force, slamming the door as hard as she could. It didn’t budge. She backed up and charged again, but this time, knocked it loose. She backed up and charged it a third time, successfully splitting the door and knocking it off its hinges. Busting through what remained of the door, she took off as fast as she could, running on all fours, panting. Her speed was incredible. It felt as if she was gliding over the ground rather than running on it. The night air filled her lungs as she ran. It felt amazing, and she didn’t tire. She could see the full moon in the sky above her and she felt so alive. Mira didn’t know what she was doing or where she was going. She was a passenger, watching all of this play out. The only thing she knew for sure, whatever happened to her, or whatever this thing was, it was running away as far as it could, as fast as it could. She did not know where she was; it seemed the animal carrying her didn’t either. Soon, she saw a bend in the path and lights before her, running she turned around the hill and came to a road, meeting headlights and a windshield. Everything went black.
