The Breakthrough

1975 Words
Victor has finally made himself whole and free from his emotional struggles. He has finally accepted his personal savior, Jesus Christ and God as his heavenly Father. In his room, Victor read a verse on his bible and set up to meet with kolade. They both take a walk together on a Sunday morning while heading to Abigail’s church. KOLADE: Am really glad you’ve finally gotten yourself. You are absolutely good now, right? VICTOR: Yes, Kolade. I wasn’t just saved but… I was moved by His manifestation. I didn’t know it would surely be this good to know and to achieve a good life of Christianity. And thanks to the lord, I have received freedom. KOLADE: Hm. Sometimes, knowing God is like knowing a great treasure. It is something that cannot be broken or burnt. It is something we need to preserve with all our hearts. (Looking at Victor’s bible in his hand) Hmm. Speaking of treasure; are you really compassionate in going to the church or going to see Abigail at anytime you felt like? VICTOR: Is that why you are referring her as a treasure? (Scoffs) Wow. KOLADE: Come on, spit it! VICTOR: Alright, alright. The truth is, I am well compassionate to the church and…to see her… KOLADE: Ehneh! I knew that through your broad smile on your face. (Pointing at Victor’s face) VICTOR: (Paused the walk along with Kolade) Hey, Kolade. I want to tell you something. KOLADE: You want to tell me how you’re going to confess to Abigail? Don’t worry. I teach people a lot when it comes to that. VICTOR: (Confused) That isn’t… Oh, forget it. KOLADE: Then, what did you want to tell me? VICTOR: You see, I do appreciate what you’ve always been doing to me. You were always there whenever I get myself lonely and rude. You were also there when I felt neglected and terrible. You were truly a friend even till now. KOLADE: (Acting too dramatic) Oh, wow. Your words are truly tendering and comfy to my precious little heart. How will I ever not accept your unavertible beautiful speech of gratitude. VICTOR: (Confused) Yeah, thanks. But why are you sounding like this? KOLADE: (Changes expression) Isn’t that what you want for bringing all that up?! (Victor hitching his head) Come on, we’re getting late for the church. VICTOR: I want to let you know that I won’t be resuming with you but instead at another school somewhere. KOLADE: What? Why?! VICTOR: It’s… it’s my decision and… KOLADE: (Adds in) You know what? Forget it, already. That is only what you are good at. Leaving the ones who cares for you like as if you were nobody to them. VICTOR: Please, do not be mistaken with that, Kolade. I understand every care and support you’ve always been giving me since the day I step in to that school. But please, you have to also understand the steps I take to get my life moving. So, even though I live far away, I will always remember coming to visit. And you know one of us has to reach the game score challenge back in my house. Or…, are you just going to give up and leave every single ranks to my pad? KOLADE: (Smiles) No way. (Victor scoffs) Hey, come on. Let’s go see Abigail already. VICTOR: I am just heading to the Church, Kolade. KOLADE: Still the same thing. Oh, wait. Did you let her know we’re both coming? VICTOR: Yes, she has. KOLADE: Mm. She must be good! VICTOR: What are you trying to imply, here? KOLADE: Do not worry. You’ll know when you get there. Meanwhile at the church and its ongoing service, Abigail went outside to the compound with a nice fitted gown. She tries checking for Victor’s arrival due to the upcoming band choir participant that is about to occur in a few minute after the sermon. DANIEL: (Appears from behind) Someone looks good today. ABIGAIL: (Turns to Daniel) Oh, Daniel. What are you doing here? You should be in church. DANIEL: And look who is talking. Aren’t we both the same? Besides, the church next program is about to come up after the sermon from the G.O. ABIGAIL: Yes, I know we need to be up there for the participation but they would possibly need you to be there first. So, please do not worry about me for now. I very much know every words of the song we’re going to sing and in a short while, I will come to join you and the others. DANIEL: You know what? They would call, if they need me at the church. So… (Looking at Abigail’s gown dressing) Let’s talk about your beauty, today. Who are you planning to set on fire? ABIGAIL: It’s my friend, Jesus. (Daniel and Abigail burst into laughter) DANIEL: Okay, okay. Apart from him, who else? (Comes closer to Abigail as Victor and Kolade showed up) VICTOR: Abigail! (Excited as Daniel and Abigail turns to him in surprises) ABIGAIL: (Excited) Victor. (Rushed and hugs him) VICTOR: (Looking at Abigail’s dress) You look… amazing. ABIGAIL: Thanks. (Poking her cheek in blushes as Daniel looks mute) KOLADE: Hi, pretty. ABIGAIL: Kolade. Am glad you also came. How are you? KOLADE: Am cool as usual. (Turns to Victor and pokes his arm using his elbow) I told you she’ll be good today. (Talks in silence) VICTOR: (Talks closer to Kolade’s ear) I owe you one. (Victor glanced at Daniel and walks to him for greetings) Hi, Daniel. DANIEL: Hi, man. VICTOR: Uhm… I am really sorry for my incompetent act. I shouldn’t have… DANIEL: Do not worry. Abigail told me everything. So if she is okay with that, so am I. VICTOR: So…, we’re cool now? DANIEL: (Folds his arms) No! (Victor and Kolade terrified as Daniel mildly adds in) Just kidding, man. We are definitely cool. (Laughs along with Abigail and Kolade) VICTOR: (Hitching his head and joins in) Yea, thanks a lot. ABIGAIL: Why don’t we all head in to the church, now. I quite believe it’s our turn on the altar. KOLADE: I’m sitting near to anyone wearing the same dress with Abigail o! VICTOR: Yea sure. Suit yourself. (Everyone burst into laughter as Abigail holds Victor’s hand while heading to the church auditorium. A while after the sermon, the church bands and choir went up to the altar along with Abigail as their lead singer) ABIGAIL: Good morning everyone. I am glad we are all here to listen God’s words through this short music I and my brothers and sisters are about to dedicate. The song is going to be titled, forgiveness. I pray it will make a meaningful beginning to all of your lives. CHURH MEMBERS: Amen! (Daniel made his move by beating his sticks on the drum sets) (While the song flows, Victor watches Abigail with proudness as he swings his head from side to side while enjoying the song. Few minute later, the service ended and everyone steps outside the church with excitements) VICTOR: You should start your own personal album. You are vocally talented. ABIGAIL: Thanks. But how was the song? Was it good? How do you feel everyone would enjoy it? VICTOR: (Smiles) Hey, look. (Pointing at the church members smiling and talking to one another) Did you see their faces and their broad smiles? (Abigail glancing so focused) Those smiles and excitements were implanted by those beautiful voices of yours. They made happiness and relaxations in their minds because it is full of meanings and melodies. That is how good and reliable that great song is, Abigail. So, that is why I want to let you know that your talent is just as beautiful as you are. (Abigail smiles) ABIGAIL: (Cleans her tears) Thanks a lot. Am really glad you do inspire me of the purposes I was made today. Sometimes, I do wish my parents were here to hear all of my singing abilities because it would be quite easier for me to get elevated by all means. VICTOR: Do not be sad. You thought me that everything that happens to us in this life are all for God’s reasons. It is quite sad though but they are all here within your heart; I am also here for you… (Hitching his head) If there are spaces left. (Abigail laughs as Victor continues) Hey, if you are still inquisitive in making a music studio or albums, I can surely help you out, okay? ABIGAIL: You do not need to go that far, Victor. VICTOR: (Comes closer to Abigail) yes, I have to. And I will do everything to make you happy… just like what you have always been doing to me. (Abigail and Victor went mute for some seconds as Abigail’s grandma appears) ABIGAIL’S GRANDMA: Victor, my dear. VICTOR: Oh, mama. ABIGAIL’S GRANDMA: How was the service? I hope we didn’t take too much of your time? VICTOR: It was splendid. And you didn’t do anything wrong ma’am. ABIGAIL’S GRANDMA: (Looking around) I was assuming I would see your mother with you but… VICTOR: She is doing stuffs…, but she’ll come around after she’s done. ABIGAIL’S GRANDMA: Well…, I would be expecting for her arrival. (Few second after the conversations, Victor’s mum arrived with two white luxurious buses as everyone watches in surprises. The buses were packed at the front of the church building and Victor’s mum emerged from her car appearing all white in her dressing) DANIEL: (Amazed) Who is she again? KOLADE: She is Victor’s mum. (Turns to Daniel) Charming, huh? VICTOR’S MUM: (Approaches Abigail’s grandma) Good day mama. I’m really sorry I had to come this late for the church service. ABIGAIL’S GRANDMA: Apologies accepted. Am just curious about those buses that just drove in to my church? VICTOR’S MUM: (Turns to the buses) Oh. You mean those vehicles? (Turns back at Abigail’s grandma) It’s just a little gift for…your church. ABIGAIL’S GRANDMA: Impossible. (Amazed in excitements as two young men from the white buses hands over the keys to her hand) No, way… ABIGAIL: (Surprise) This is unbelievable, mama. Our church has a transport luxury, now! (Turns to Victor as he smiles broadly) You…you knew this all along, don’t you? VICTOR: It’s just a way of expressing our deep appreciation for God and also a little surprise for the church itself. What do you think? ABIGAIL: Are you kidding me?! It’s great! ABIGAIL’S GRANDMA: Thank you very, very much, my dear. May God continue to bless you. VICTOR’S MUM: Amen, mama. (Everyone including Abigail’s grandma went ahead to check out the buses with full of joy and excitements. While Victor tries joining in, Abigail stops him by holding his hand) ABIGAIL: Is this what you meant by…doing more as a means of your gratitude? VICTOR: What…? I thought you would be contempt with that… But well, I thought you would like it… ABIGAIL: Yes, I do. But it isn’t directly from you. (Victor hitching his head in confusion) VICTOR: (Scoffs) I thought I was right when I said you never lack contempt. ABIGAIL: You were. But… (Comes closer to Victor) when it comes to your gratitude, which you have promised to give to me…, I won’t be satisfied enough. So, I am only satisfied with your mother’s gift and I can’t just wait to receive yours personally. VICTOR: (Smiles broadly) Let’s hang out some other time. I hope to show you more of my gratitude since you are a dearest friend to me. ABIGAIL: Okay, am looking forward to that. (Abigail pecks Victor in the cheek as Victor becomes mild and tendered. Finally, they both later joins in with the cheers and excitements of the members as last view went to the blazing sun in the sky) -THE END-
