It's been three weeks since he saw her at the restaurant and he's been skipping work just to go and see her. It became so bad his grandmother had to request a meeting with him.
"Young Master Volvo, the old lady wants to meet you in the sunroom" A servant said and walked away. Taking in a deep breath, he prepared himself for the inevitable as he made his way to the sunroom. Entering the sunroom, he was hit with sudden nostalgia.
The sounds of birds chirping filled the room and he saw his mother sitting on an emerald couch with her head buried deep in the book she was reading. Behind her were rolls of bookshelves packed to the brim with books from different authors. He had always been the opposite of his grandmother who loved to read very much.
He cleared his throat thus making her aware of his presence.
"Take a seat" she motioned him to the couch besides her.
"Explain these" she passed him an envelope. Opening it, he found picture of himself.
"What have you been doing there, you go there 3 to 4 times a week for the past three weeks. You cancel meetings, postpone signing of contracts just so you can get there at 10:15 everyday and you leave there around 3:10. Do you care to explain?"
Aston remained silent. How could he tell his grandmother that he was there because she woke up 9:30am and left the house at 3:45 each day so she could go to her to her favorite local gaming center where she gave all the guys there a run for their money. He himself didn't know when his admiration of her escalated to something he couldn't put a finger on. How could he tell his grandmother that all those times he'd cancelled those meetings just to watch her game. He had even become so used to the place the past weeks that people there treated him as one of their own even though he never gamed personally.
"There's nothing to say" He finally voiced out. His grandmother's face turned ugly at his words. "It's either you tell me yourself or I find out the other way. I might not know who lives in that house yet but it won't take a lot for me to find out" She threatened.
"There's nothing in that house Nana, no need to send people there. I would make up for all the meetings postponed and the deals yet to be signed"
"I want more than that. I want you to stop going to that house and focus on the business."
"I can't promise much Nana"
Two hours later.
He sat a few seats away from her and watched in awe as she dominated the game.
"You're going down this time Aanya" A male voice taunted
"If only you can be alive for more than 5 minutes Zain" she refuted as she laughed.
"Zain watch out" Someone screamed as three bullets hit Zain's character in the head killing him immediately.
"Can't believe I lost to you again" Zain growled in despair as Aanya was announced as the winner in the game.
" So much for taking me down" Aanya laughed as she looked at her phone's screen. She had spent an extra 30 minutes today since Zain refused to accept defeat earlier.
"Wow Aanya, who's that?" everyone's attention was immediately drawn to Aanya's streaming as the comments section exploded with excitement. Someone had just gifted her 10 rockets which was worth 1000cedis each.
"Who could that be?" The guy next to Aston asked with an amazed expression.
Aston merely shrugged lazily. "She's an amazing gamer, she deserves more than that"
His companion laughed at his words. "I don't think you know how big of a gift a rocket is. One rocket is a thousand cedis so ten would be a hundred thousand cedis. That is equivalent to a professional streamer's monthly payment and someone just causally gifted her in one game. The person must either be really rich or so impressed by her skills."
"I bet he's both" Aston said with a chuckle
"How do you know it's a male"
" Just a wild guess" Aston drawled as he left the center.

"Are you sure you want to do this Mike. What happened to the promise you made to Yvette? The empire was supposed to be Aanya's, why the sudden urge to change the will" The Luke questioned as he looked at Mike with a confused expression. Even though he was but a lawyer, he had promised Yvette he would make sure Aanya inherited the empire.
" How dare you question my decision, this is my family's affair and as the head of the family I chose who gets what in the will. Are you going to prepare a new will or should I call your replacement."
" I won't have a hand in whatever you're planning to do and I'm definitely not going to sit back and watch you give away your wife's property to another woman's child." Fuming, he walking away when Mike called from behind him.
"You don't have to do this Luke. I can give you a share of the properties." Mike tried to convince him.
"That's all this is about for you isn't it? You really think I'd throw my conscience through the window just because you're promising me wealth. Open your eyes Mike, you married into this wealth. Everything you have today belonged to Yvette. You never worked hard for even a penny you own and yet somehow you think just because she's no more you can give it all away to a stranger. You make me sick Mike. I hope you realize the consequences of what you're about to do before it's too late"
"Go ahead then, walk away. You're not the only lawyer available in this line of business. And don't you bother come back."
A few minutes later, Eliza came to meet a troubled Mike with his head in his hands while he had a far away look in his eyes.
She had heard snippets of their conversation and wasn't happy with how Luke refused to co-operate.
"What did he say" she inquired fanning innocence as she gently massaged his tensed shoulders.
"He wouldn't buy the idea" he signed.
"And what were his reasons?"
"He said he didn't want a hand in dishonoring Yvette's last wishes. He did make a good point though, maybe this is a bad idea. Yvette would be heartbroken when she finds out Aanya didn't inherit the empire like she wanted. Maybe we should just hand over the empire to her and have Jeffrey handle the dealings."
" How do you think Jeffrey would feel about that? He'd be mocked that he lost his inheritance to a girl and have you thought about what people would say? They'd say you couldn't follow simple traditions because you're afraid the Simpson family would take everything from you. You don't have to be weak Mike. We both know we're doing what's right for our son, your son."
"You're right, I shouldn't let guilt consume me, I'm sure even Yvette would understand that things can't always go as planned. I'd contact Anthony"
Eliza smirked hearing Mike's words. She wasn't going to rest until everything was in her son's name.
