Frankie has a tiny car, one of those half-size ones that can park anywhere. It’s bright orange so nobody could miss it, even tucked under the big almond tree in the driving rain. The tree was bare of leaves, but I noticed quite a big flock of crows flapping about in its highest branches. There must be some sort of crow convention in town. First, they were all over our bus stop, and now, here at Toby’s house. But I didn’t have time to give it any further thought as Frankie clicked the lock and I slipped into the passenger seat.
