I stepped out of my room with the intention to go through the notes the last instructor had given me.
Now that I was the new combat trainer and instructor, I needed all the knowledge I could get. My brothers had already left for school earlier, and I planned to join them when I bumped into Kayden as he was leaving his room.
I paused, frozen in time.
I could feel my heart beat violently against my chest. It was shocking, especially since the person who elicited this reaction in me was Kayden.
“Hey,” he greeted as he fluffed his hair around his face.
“Hey,” he said, casually fluffing his hair like he hadn’t just sucker-punched my nervous system.
