Part 1: Eyes That Shouldn’t Exist
The man in the woods didn’t flinch.
Even as Axel shifted—his muscles coiled, teeth bared, claws itching to rip flesh—this stranger just stood there. Calm. Cold. Confident.
“I don’t want to hurt the boy,” he said again. “I only want what’s owed to me.”
Axel snarled. “He’s not yours. He’s mine.”
The stranger raised a brow. “Oh? You think bloodlines obey paperwork? You think the mark appeared by accident?”
I clutched Liam tighter, stepping back.
“Who are you?” I asked.
The man slowly removed his hood.
Silver hair. Crimson eyes. A scar across his throat that pulsed faintly—like a second heartbeat.
“My name is Kael. Son of the fallen Crimson King. Last heir to the rogue throne.”
Axel’s voice dropped to a growl. “The Rogue Prince.”
Kael nodded.
“And I’ve come to claim what my blood demands. The child is mine—by right of legacy.”

Part 2: The Fight That Shouldn’t Be Won
“You don’t get to claim my son!” Axel roared, shifting midair.
Bones snapped. Fur erupted. He hit the ground in wolf form—black and massive—snarling with every ounce of rage he’d buried over the years.
Kael sighed, then moved.
Fast.
Faster than any rogue should move.
He met Axel’s charge with terrifying ease, sidestepping the lunge and slamming a knee into the wolf’s ribs. Axel yelped, crashing into a tree.
“Axel!” I screamed.
Kael glanced at me, disappointed. “You should have kept him hidden, girl. Now everyone knows. The boy's power is echoing across the packs.”
I backed away, heart racing, Liam stirring in my arms.
“I won't let you take him,” I whispered.
“You don’t have a choice. He carries both your strength and mine.”
I blinked. “Yours? What the hell are you talking about?”
Kael smirked. “I told you. By blood and bond. You and Axel weren’t the only ones tied by fate.”
That’s when I understood.
This wasn’t just about a bloodline.
This was about a prophecy.
And Liam was the weapon.

Part 3: Bondlines and Betrayal
Axel rose slowly, limping, blood staining his fur. He shifted back, panting, chest heaving.
“You won’t take him,” he growled. “Even if it kills me.”
Kael narrowed his eyes. “It might.”
Then he vanished.
Literally vanished—like smoke. And appeared behind me.
I spun, clawing at him, but he was already reaching for Liam.
My son screamed.
But before Kael’s fingers could touch him, Liam’s eyes shot open—blazing gold. The mark on his shoulder pulsed.
And then… Kael was on fire.
Real fire. Blue and silent. His skin blistered where it touched Liam’s aura.
He stumbled back, hissing. “So the awakening has started. Faster than expected.”
Axel charged again. This time, his claws met flesh.
Kael bled. Not much—but enough to pull back.
He held up his hands. “You’ve made your stand. But you’ve only delayed the inevitable.”
“Try again,” Axel spat, blood dripping from his mouth. “And next time, you don’t walk away.”
Kael grinned. “Oh, I won’t be walking.”
Then he vanished again—gone.

Part 4: Unseen Wounds
Silence returned, but it didn’t bring peace.
Axel collapsed against a tree, holding his side.
I laid Liam down gently, checking him for burns, bruises—anything. But he was still. Almost too still.
“Is he okay?” I asked.
Axel nodded slowly. “He’s unconscious, but stable. His wolf protected him.”
I looked at the spiral mark again. It was brighter now.
Almost… breathing.
“Did you know about the prophecy?” I whispered.
Axel didn’t answer.
“A prophecy that links rogues, bloodlines, and a child that could either destroy or unify the kingdoms?”
“I knew pieces,” he admitted. “But I never thought it would be us.”
Tears stung my eyes. “They’re going to keep coming.”
“Yes,” Axel said. “They are. Until either Liam bends… or breaks.”
I curled around my son, heart thudding.
We’d survived the prince.
But war was now a matter of when, not if.

No one close to them is safe.
