Chapter 4 The man's posture exuded confidence and authority, his broad shoulders and muscular frame commanding attention as Eileen dragged her heavy legs inside the Alpha Odysseus' office. Her legs suddenly became heavy the moment she heard that cold, deadly voice of his telling the guard to let her inside. She could see the man's chiseled jawline and piercing eyes that gave him an air of intensity, while his full lips hinted at a sensual side. Studying the man's movements, she found every movement of the man was purposeful and graceful, like a predator stalking its prey. “My lord,” Beta Idris called the man's attention towards the appearance of the woman. Alpha Odysseus turned around, and his gaze landed on the woman who was fidgeting with the hem of her clothes while looking down at her feet. Of course, no one could bear to look at him or even summon the courage to do so. “Look up,” Alpha Odysseus' strong features were set in a hard expression, his brow furrowed in concentration as he studied her. But beneath the cold expression, he seemed to recognize her. Just like she was being told, Eileen had no choice but to yield to the alpha's word and raise her head, the tension in the room was a killer of joy. The air seemed buzzing with anticipation, as though the individual was poised on the brink. Their gazes met, leaving her stunned. “You!” She stuttered in disbelief as she stared keenly at the man from head to toe. The man was looking different and stronger than the few months she had seen him. Yes, they met a couple of months ago. ~~~~~~ FLASHBACKS SEVEN MONTHS AGO AT THE COLLEGE EVENT “Miss, it's getting late, we should leave now,” Emily lamented, checking the time constantly. She was doing it for her Miss because she was aware she would be in a hot mess if her step-siblings got home before her. “For goodness’s sake, let me have enough fun!” Eileen cried out, shoving different kinds of delicacies inside her mouth while keeping some inside her bag like a hungry starved cow. One wouldn't blame her for having the pastries kept inside her bag, since it was free food, and she wasn't sure whether she would be given enough food, so she decided to keep some for the next day. “Fine, Miss, let's pack enough food and leave. Maybe we will be able to get a free ride when the driver comes to pick them up,” Emily mumbled. She knew her Miss wouldn't be comfortable with the suggestion but had to suggest it as that would make them get home faster. As the party died down, Eileen and her maid stepped out of the hall to the parking lot where they met their father's car, which was probably there to pick them up. Yes, her step-siblings would be taking the car, so the driver didn't just come to pick her up. Luckily, they got there first and didn't hesitate to hop inside the car. “Miss, you see why I said we should be fast,” Emily said, giggling happily. At least she was stress-free already. Shortly, Jessica and her brothers were sighted walking towards the car with their fellow underdog at their backs. It wasn't a new thing to Eileen as she was very aware of how popular she was that she had people flocking behind her back while she had no one, always looked down upon and tampering on like rags, which was why she had to come with her maid. “Sister, look at who is seated comfortably inside the car,” Richard said, sneering with a lustful gaze. Jessica, who had taken a selfie of herself, instantly stopped to take a look at the person who had got to sit comfortably inside her favorite car. “Are you dumb?” she questioned, finding it hard to believe she had the guts to be seated in the car with her maid. Did she seriously expect her to be in the same car with her? “You don't expect me to ride in the same car with you? Do you?” Jessica asked with a murderous grin playing at the corner of her mouth. “But I thought we would be riding together. After all, there's still space for you, and we'll be going to the same place,” She calmly said, trying to utilize the tone of her words to avoid unnecessary drama from Jessica's mother. “You don't mean what you said, right? Because it sounds ridiculous to my ears! You expect me to ride with you in the same car?” Jessica said, giving her handbag to her friend, who rushed to collect it. “We wouldn't want you and your Stinky maid to cramp the car with all sorts of bad luck!” Jessica's underdog spoke up leading to Eileen clenching her fist underneath. “Now, get out your ass of that car!” Jessica arrogantly commanded, her lips curling into a sneer. Eileen's heart sank as she scanned their indifferent faces. It had always been that way, always being treated worthlessly by them, even though she had every right to her father's cars and house. “Get down, Emily,” Eileen calmly said, her eyes brimming with anger, her throat constructed with hurt and frustration that she had to yield to Jessica's words. With one last stare, Eileen turned around and left with Emily trailing behind her. She could hear the echo of their laughter haunting her steps, but she didn't care much about it. After all, she never wanted any rights. She was used to taking the fastest route to the house, so being sent out of the car wasn't much of a deal to her. “ Miss, you shouldn't have left the car for them!” Emily lamented. ~~~~~ Lost in their own words while talking happily on their way back to her residence, Eileen suddenly realized she was unable to move from the particular spot she was in. “Miss, why aren't you moving? It's getting late, let's leave this place as fast as possible,” Emily said as she turned around to see her miss standing idle in just a particular place. “I can't move my legs,” Eileen mumbled, trying to move her feet with the remaining power left inside her body, but she couldn't, she began hearing faint breathing. “I think I am doomed!” she brimmed with tears at the corner of her eyes. “H ... help me,” A faint voice wstress-freeh……ahh!”
