Caden comes back to the hotel and tells us that Hadley was never convicted, that bastard controlled every move from the moment he showed up at the pack. His ability to alter the reality around him and our naivety made us easy to manipulate.
I feel sick from the thought of our warriors who died for no reason, we should have been on the plane and heading back home as soon as the trial was over not hiding in a Motel waiting for Avrilak’s hybrids to find us and wipe out our people.
Caden has already been to the morgue, claimed the bodies and arranged for them to be transported back to our pack. He hasn’t spoken to his father yet and when I tentatively mentioned ringing to let him know we were fine, the younger Alpha shut down the conversation immediately.
