Uncertain

Ana awoke peacefully for the first time in ages. As she attempted to sit up she felt a strong warm embrace. All the memories from the night prior came rushing back. Carefully removing his arm from her waist she snuck off to the bathroom. In many ways she felt content and happy but guilt crept it's way back into her mind. David was her one true love. Despite her thoughts, Ana could not get over the strong feelings she was having for Derek. This was a very new and different experience. She would not admit it but deep within the confines of her heart she knew it felt fated, truly fated. The comfort, the peace and let us not forget those indescribable sparks which turned her mind to mush causing her body to take control. She recalled how close they came the night prior. Part of her yearned to finish what they started, feel all of him sending sparks through her body, while another part of her allowed the guilt to grow. Ana decided to take a quick shower in hopes of washing away both the regret and the constant dirty thoughts overtaking her mind. After cleansing herself she chose to leave both her face and long curly hair natural today. Dressed in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt she went back to her bedroom only to find it empty. Despite the self-reproach it hurt seeing that Derek had left without even a goodbye. She picked up her phone to call Jessica and let her know she was on her way over when the front door suddenly opened. Ana peaked down the stairs to find Eva followed by Derek strolling in. She walked down to join them as Derek kept his eyes glued to her every movement. “I woke up and heard you in the shower so I decided to go check on Eva. Jessica insisted I bring her home and spend the day with you two, “ Derek said with a grin. Ana's heart fluttered as she saw how well he interacted with Eva. With each move he made, a sliver of darkness left her plagued heart. “Thank you,” she simply replied. Her cheeks were blushing as she could not stop herself from admiring the man who stood beside her daughter. “Eva, how about you go run upstairs and change into fresh clothes and I will get some breakfast started. Have either of you eaten?” Ana questioned. “I ate Mama! Jess cooked us yummy pancakes for breakfast! You and Derek missed out!” Eva excitedly replied before continuing, “I am going to change and then I want to see Gabby! Please?! Jess said I could go back over!” Eva rushed to her room to get ready. “Jessica is sneaky. I think she is playing matchmaker when she does not need to. I do not need her help to know I have found someone far beyond my expectations. She has got great taste in friends. I will give her that,” Derek said with a sly smile. “Slow down Derek. You know who and what I am which is a definite plus but you also know my past. I will admit what I am feeling for you is unfamiliar and exciting but I am not sure what to do with it,” Ana softly replied, desperately trying not to hurt him. Thankfully Derek understood her worries. “How about we spend the day together like Jess suggested. We can do whatever you want, no pressure. I cannot lie though, what started last night I would love to finish.” Derek was never one to hold back his thoughts and right now all that was on his mind was getting Ana out of her clothes. “We will see about that,” Ana laughed. “First, I need to speak with Jessica and then how about we start with some food. I am starving.” Honestly, Ana’s mind filled with thoughts of Derek taking all of her but anxiety was still present. She was not ready despite the need she felt building to deepen the connection they formed last night. Ana was extremely confused.
