Interesting Turn of Events

What I expected to happen was, Jackson to be sent to the principles office or gains detention.  Mrs. Hayes composed herself and as she started to speak the hushed giggles died down "well Mr. McCaffrey, finger doesn't rhyme with red to start off, but overall an amusing ditty, maybe put a little more thought in your creative writing workbook".  And that was that soon enough the bell rings and I'm making my way down the halls towards double science, the science block is on the far side of the small campus, and I make is just before the bell rings, my seat far right second from the back row is clear, perfect. The lesson goes by quickly and the no new class members to add as a distraction, all is well with science.  The bell rings and I join the scurry if students ready to enjoy lunch, as I have to pass the library I drop my morning period books in and head for lunch. The cafeteria is your standard bland white room except for some teachers version of 'art/inspiration' by that I mean big canvases painted by the art teacher with slogans on like, 'dream it believe it' and 'believe you can and your halfway there". I read a study once which said that students have a lower attention and engagement after lunch, maybe this is just a way of boosting morale at lunchtime. The queue is short and I grab a sandwich, an apple and a bottle of Fanta fruit twist! Much prefer a cold lunch on these warmer summer days, not to mention the lasagna looks pretty dry.  I pay on the pre-paid lunch card and the server highlights that my credit is running low and hands it back with a smile. Great just what I need. I make my way outside down the left of the main outdoor seating area to the concealed corner I always sit in, there is one of the older style 6 person benches which is just tucked away. Without a second though I plonk myself down.  "That seats taken" my head darts up and I realise I am not alone 47 is sat opposite me, at my table. "Yes, by me, this is my table IV been sitting here for 2 and a half years, if anyone's seat taken it's the one your sat in!" How rude of him to take my table and then give me s**t for it. "Hmmm, interesting" he muses. "And what the hell is that suppose to mean?" I blurt. I know this is a bad idea, I should just leave and find a quiet place, but IV sat here since I started and I won't be bullied by this guy! Who the hell does he think he is. "Locker in a quiet area of school and there you are, quietest table at lunch and well, here you are" he breaths out almost as if to himself. He's not really looking at me just eating a sandwich while writing in the English workbook he was given this morning.  "You can't stay here?" I say. This time he looks up, oh those eyes, I realise a small gasp left my traitorous mouth. With that, the left side of his mouth rises with amusement. "Why not? I don't see anyone else sitting here?"  Damn it, I can hardly lie and say my girl gang will be here any moment, I must have a worried look on my face because he looks and me with those mesmerizing emerald eyes and tilts his head as if to prompt a response. "Why do you want to sit here anyway?" Yes, good tactic, I will ask a question to save from declaring my loner status. "I'm guessing the same as you, I like to be left alone" he puts out his hand and says "Jackson, but you can call me Jay" I tentatively put my hand out and shake his hand "Alexandra, but please just call me Alex". His hand is strong and the handshake is firm but reassuring when he removed his hand I realise again.. I am staring and still holding onto his hand. I need to get a hold of myself. "So to locker and lunch table buddies eh" his left eyebrow raises, I wonder if he knows that he's having an effect on me.  No no no no no "okay" damn my traitorous mouth.
