Chapter Twelve The end of school had finally come, and the graduation into my new life faced me everywhere I turned. Soon after flung my cap in the air, I was back in the apartment I shared with Maximus, planning to spend a few free days alone while he was in Boston presenting his work of the last few years to a group of investors he was schmoozing—too important a time for me to tag along, and I was ready for a break from everything, including Maximus. “So, darlin’, whatcha got goin’ tonight?” Denny’s cheery voice drew me out of the hammock I’d strung between two posts on the deck of our apartment.
