Chapter Forty-Two Ash and McGavin sat in Fitzhugh’s office, sending out what runners they could muster to anyone they thought would listen. There had been a heated argument between the MPs and Danjou as to what to do next with the information they had gathered. Sending a message to GHQ was next to stupid—no one would believe it. The generals would contact the Canadians and, in all likelihood, ask Major O’Connell what he and his men were up to. As they were certain the Irish major was the spy and organiser of the attack, O’Connell would of course lie, and nothing would change except the MPs would be classified as time wasters and likely be demoted, or at worst, arrested.
