Gratefully, Mariah went to throw her arms around her brother, and Jason grabbed her by her arms aggressively. Suddenly, he threw her to the floor hard, and she landed on her hands and knees. Mariah looked up at her brother and growled at him.
“What the hell!” she snarled at him as she glared up at her brother.
He looked at her and shrugged his shoulders. Sam nudged Jason with his shoulder, and they both laughed.
“If you want to get to know me, stand in line with the rest,” said Jason, annoyed as he crossed his arms over his chest.
What was wrong with him and Sam? I wondered, as I looked at them both.
Longingly, I looked at Jason. I wanted to feel his soft skin against mine, and I wanted to feel his arms around me. That just can’t happen.
