Rose's Point Of View:
My mind raced and I stood frozen, holding a dustpan in one hand and a broom in the other. Did that really just happen? It was only yesterday that I met the hottest character in my story, and only moments ago I KISSED the hottest guy in my story…
I shook my head quickly, trying to shake away the thought. ‘Leo probably didn’t even think much of it,’ I told myself. ‘I really shouldn’t either. It was just to get him away from me.’ And yet, the burning sensation of Leo’s lips touching mine didn’t go away. ‘That’s what I get for being a fangirl,’ I thought, sighing.
I felt a light tug on the bottom of my shirt which brought me back to reality. Blinking, I looked down to find Lilith staring up at me, grinning from ear to ear.
“Park,” she chirped, like she does every day at nine o’clock. I knelt down next to her, taking a piece of her hair from her face.
‘She had more of her father’s attributes than her mother’s,’ I noticed as I studied her. ‘Messy red hair with little red freckles caking across her nose. But she did have her mother’s eyes and her same lively facial expressions.’
Smiling, I pushed her hair behind her ears. “Go get your shoes,” I said. Lilith’s eyes lit up and she dashed out of the room. I slowly stood up, trying to keep my balance, when I saw two familiar faces walk through the front door.
It was strange to see them here. A 16 year old girl with dark, purple hair walked in hesitantly, her unnatural violet eyes sweeping across the room. She was tense, keeping her guard up every step she took.
A teen boy, about her age, with orange-reddish hair walked in seconds after her, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He didn’t look as cautious, but he still looked just as serious.
The girl’s eyes fell on me and anger quickly filled her face. Something that seemed like a low growl escaped her throat, and the boy grabbed her arm, hissing.
“Mystic, we don’t know anything for sure yet-” Mystic pulled out of his grip, her cold eyes glued on mine.
“You did this, didn’t you?” she snapped, marching up to me and pointing an accusing finger. “What. Did. You. Do?” I took in a deep breath, trying to take everything in.
Mystic Rivers. An 16 year old girl with psychic abilities and a short temper. Luke Prior. A boy that has been best friends with Mystic since junior high, trying to get his crush to notice him. A more rational thinker and who also has psychic abilities.
But that’s not the fun thing about them. No. It’s the fact that they are characters I have written two years ago, for a completely different storyline. So why were they here in this story?
