The Voices in my Head

Leo's Point of View:      "It's gone," Starlet said in a hoarse whisper. "It's already gone..." I let go of her shirt, looking frantically around the room. Maybe I could go after it. If I was quick enough, maybe I can reach it before the ring finds its new owner!     "The portal's gone too," Starlet said while a weak, victorious smile slowly began forming on her lips. I looked down at my knife and remembered how many times I've had to cut through other's skin, ending their pathetic lives.     I set my jaw and began twirling the knife around with my fingers. "I'll just have to find the next owner,"     I said aloud and an odd laugh escaped my throat. "It'll be easy... It'll be FUN! Like a game."      I looked back up at Starlet and the smile fell when I saw that smug look of victory glued on her face. "You won't find her that easily," she said. I frowned. I've hated her stuffy, annoying voice ever since I met her.     In one quick movement, I lifted up my knife and plunged it deep into her chest. Starlet's eyes widened, her hands flying to the knife, before collapsing to the ground. I stood over her and watched as the life slowly left her gray eyes.     After another moment, I knelt down next to her and pulled out the knife again, wiping it off with the bottom of my shirt. I stood back up, trying to think of another plan.     'The portal was only here for a short amount of time,' I decided. 'So that would mean that the seal must had teleport someplace not too far from here.'     "You can just find the new owner and kill her too!" a crazed, delirious voice giggled whispered ecstatically in my head. "Just like you did with Caroline, and the one before that, and the one before that one too!" My heartbeat quickened with the idea of this, the idea of murder, and thrilled butterflies formed in my stomach.     "You don't even need to be so cautious around her, either!" another demented voice in informed me. "They won't know anything about what it does. It'll be easy."     "The new owner probably won't even be that strong of an opponent," a third voice added. "You probably won't even need a knife to kill them off. Maybe you can just strangle the person."     A bubbling feeling raised in me. 'I've never tried that,' I thought excitedly, a smile slipping onto my lips. "Yeah," the first voice exclaimed. "Or, or, or, or... you can snap their necks!" I made a face.      "Eh..." the second voice in my head replied. "I'd prefer the strangling idea. Can you imagine watching the blood draining from someone's face as you block their air path?"      I couldn't take it anymore. A liud, chaotic laugh bursts out of me. "I LOVE it!" I caried. "I LOVE it!" I pushed Starlet's body farther from the front door with my foot, feeling an urge of energy flowing through me. I dug my bare hand deeper into the blade of my knife and walked outside.      "I will make sure that this..." I said to myself, "Will be one of my favorite kills."
