"Who said we wanted you dead?" Roland asked, his face dark and sullen.
Alvera did not want to engage in the topic with him. "I'm fine now, Mr. Francois. You can leave."
"I don't have much to do today anyway. I'll stay here with you."
Alvera sighed.
"Why? I'm here to keep you company. Why are you so unwilling?"
Alvera did not say anything.
Roland continued to ask coolly, "You had lunch with Antoine this morning. What did you talk about?"
Alvera looked at him blankly for a moment. "You really know a lot about me. Did you send someone to spy on me?"
Roland raised his eyebrows and replied, "I don't have the time for that, but you argued in front of the company, which is still my territory. It's not hard to find out what you did. Tell me, what did you guys talk about?"
