Maverick POV
“Maverick put me down, I’m not a pup,” Odessa whined through the mindlink.
“No way.”
“Where are we going?” She replied.
“To get you cleaned up, Wildcat. I’m not sure I want to know how you got like this. Was anyone chasing you.”
“Not exactly… I think I got carried away when I shifted. I didn’t want to get caught. I panicked when I heard you chasing me. Why were you chasing me?!”
“I didn’t recognise you.”
My wolf had her neck in his jaw, her hind legs dangled in the air as I took her to a river.
She looked awful! I thought she had brown fur! Odessa was a white wolf. I brought her to the edge of the clear river and nudged her into the chilly water.
She growled at me, but remained in the water.
I shifted out of my wolf skin and towered over her.
“Shift,” I ordered.
