I lingered in the waiting area while Maverick went on the hunt for information on his friend. Gage was alive, which was the most important thing.
“Anything?” I asked as Maverick marched towards me.
He shook his head.
“Gage’s dad kicked me out of the hospital.”
“What? You didn’t try to kill your friend!”
“The guy hates me, and I hate him. Gage’s doing better, but I can’t see him right now.”
“So, what else did you find out?”
Mav took my hand and led me to a seat. “I spoke to the pack doctor.”
“And?”
“He’s reporting the incident to the council, and they’re going to investigate. It wasn’t ordinary poison. It seems it’s the same poison that killed my grandmother, just in a smaller dose.”
