Maverick POV
“Damn,” I said.
Storm followed Odessa and me to the army base. The place had been ransacked and destroyed, yet not a single army official or soldier was here trying to figure out what had happened.
If that wasn’t an indicator that this was an inside job, then I didn’t know what was.
Rex was badly injured. Odessa was with him, cleaning his cuts and checking out his bruises.
“I tried to stop them, but there were too many of them. The panic button didn’t work,” Rex explained.
“How does that happen? I thought this place was a high-tech facility,” Odessa asked.
“It is. This was all a setup.”
