Odessa POV
I pulled out a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies from the oven. Thunder clapped ferociously outside the apartment; however, the rain was dying down.
It was late in the afternoon. Maverick had been gone for hours.
“How long could this meeting be?” I asked myself.
I nibbled on my nails. He should have been back by now. It’s an important meeting. One that Alpha Seth and his allies can never find out about.
I bit into a cookie. “This was supposed to make me feel better.”
I marched to the window and peered out the window. The streetlamps were on, and the roads were damp.
I’m being a paranoid girlfriend, right now.
“I’ll call him,” I said.
I picked up my phone.
The doorbell rang before I could dial his number. I frowned, setting the phone down on the kitchen island.
