After he left, I sank back onto the couch, feeling more restless than ever. This was more than jealousy, I realized. It was a fundamental discomfort with the entire situation. Lily was out there, training with another man, potentially falling in love with another man, building a future that didn't include me.
But at least she was safe. At least she had someone powerful enough to protect her from the Shadow Council.
I had to be satisfied with that.
A mindlink from Liam interrupted my brooding. "Alpha, Daniel – Alpha Percy's son from the Yellow Stone pack – is asking to see you. Should I send him away?"
I was exhausted, emotionally drained, and in no mood for social pleasantries with visiting pack members. But turning away the son of an allied Alpha would be a diplomatic insult
