I immediately placed a call to the contact but he ended the call and sent me another message. ‘Text, I’m in a meeting.’
My grip on my phone tightened as I composed myself and started typing.
“What? You were the one who insisted we eliminate her? Why the sudden change?”
“You don’t need to question my reasons,” the contact typed at first. “I realized that she’s more valuable alive. I want her captured and brought to me instead. Can you handle that, or do I need to find someone else who can?”
I clenched my jaw in annoyance. “I’ve already briefed the mercenaries and they’re in place, waiting to move. Changing the plan at the last minute could complicate things.”
