A Research About Love   “What are you doing there?” asked Lavelle when she saw Theophile digging a hole in the backyard near a gazebo.   Theophile didn’t answer however, once in a while he wiped a small trace of sweat that was dripping down his forehead. Lavelle who felt so curious immediately came up to him and crouched beside Theophile and sighed.   “Why did you dig such a deep hole?” asked Lavelle for the umpteenth time.   “I’ll tell you that later,” Theophile muttered.   “I was just asking, why did you keep it a secret?” asked Lavelle again in a slightly sulky tone.   “I’ll tell you, you know the eternal rose I planted in that magic bottle? I’ll go to plant it here,” Theophile replied.   just nodded in understanding but she didn’t know why Theophile wanted to plant those roses in the backyard. Because it is like a magic rose that is bewitched and becomes a beautiful twinkling.   “But why would you plant those roses here?” asked Lavelle curiously.   “Because I’ve seen some new buds from that rose, Lavelle. I feel that meeting you is a special thing,” Theophile said with a faint and meaningful smile.   “Is that true?” asked Lavelle, “The roses will bloom? But is it purely because of my presence in your life, Theo?”   Theophile got up then took off his two dirty looking gloves and pulled Lavelle by the waist so that she would come closer to him and look into his sparkling eyes. “I love you, and I know that we love each other. Stay here, you make my life better than before.”   “I’m not perfect like you, Theo. I’m just a human who can leave you at any time if God wills,” Lavelle muttered.   Theophile took a deep breath, then pressed his forehead against Lavelle’s. “I would do anything for you, because I don’t want you to leave my life. And I don’t want to know anything.”   “Doesn’t that sound selfish?” Lavelle replied.   “There’s no selfishness when you love the right person, it’s a sacrifice,” Theophile muttered. “Well, I’ll take the eternal rose.”   Theophile let go of his embrace then gently stroked the top of Lavelle’s head, which looked very attractive with her already slightly large and full belly.   “We’re getting married on Monday, I can’t wait for the show,” Theophile said.   “What makes you impatient?” asked Lavelle.   “Because I will have you completely,” Theophile replied.   smirked, then wrapped her arms around Theophile’s neck. “Apart from you wanting to have me completely, don’t you already have me completely? Along with this baby that is in my stomach.”   Theophile almost laughed out loud when he saw Lavelle who incidentally was an innocent girl grinning and teasing himself like that. “Explain to me what style you are wearing?”   “What style?” Lavelle raised one of her eyebrows.   “Strange girl, you don’t understand my question?” Theophile asked back then felt Lavelle’s back from bottom to bottom.   “Stop it, you’re making me think nonsense,” Lavelle grumbled later.   “You’re just a perverted mind,” Theophile said, biting her lower lip slightly.   Lavelle gasped and immediately let go of her own embrace, trying to silence her slightly odd urge for now.   “Why did you let go of your grip?” asked Theophile.   “So what?” asked Lavelle, “I really like… ummm… I mean, how about we eat fried rice with sausage?”   ***   “Wow, this eternal rose is really beautiful to look at directly without the bottle,” muttered Lavelle when Theophile had managed to plant the rose in the hole he had made earlier—plus a few circular stone arrangements to prevent soil. Around the roots of the perennial rose fell when Theophile watered it.   “This rose may have silver leaves if many buds have grown. My late mother once planted these roses in several large pots and kept them at four points of the kingdom as a sign that love always accompanies the journey of Neo Green Peace. And this is the only perennial rose left from the four pots,” Theophile explained as he brushed off some of the dirt that had stuck to his suit.   “So this is the only one?” asked Lavelle for reassurance.   Theophile nodded. “Yeah. However, you don’t have to worry. If indeed this flower will bloom and bloom I will take a few stalks to re-plant it in every corner of Neo Green Peace.”   “Ah… I see, then are you going to take care of that plant like you take care of other plants? I mean you gave it some—”   “Honey, these roses don’t need fertilizer like other roses. This eternal rose only needs the feelings of both of us, because it involves a harmony,” Theophile cut while giving the best smile and then took off the two gloves he used to plant the roses.   “I want to cook fried rice as you wish now, would you like something else?” asked Theophile a second time.   “Well, um… may I ask you to make me a burger?” asked Lavelle then.   “Of course.”   Theophile went inside and headed for a small kitchen that was there, a special kitchen that Theophile and his siblings used frequently. This time, he swiftly opened the expensive suit he was wearing at the time and then took a sheet made of natural pine wood. Meanwhile, Lavelle sat across from Theophile, holding her chin with her right hand, while still looking at Theophile’s face which was now focused on cutting the leek.   “Would you like some extra chicken?” asked Theophile.   “I’d love it if you added some chopped chicken, grilled mushrooms and sprinkled with black pepper, as well as a few bits of vegetables and sausage,” Lavelle mumbled.   “I understand that our son is a future genius,” Theophile said.   “Huh? Why do you have such thoughts?” asked Lavelle, a little dumbfounded.   Theophile chuckled. “Just a guess but, I also hope so. Is it wrong?”   “I don’t think it’s wrong, it’s just… wouldn’t wishing like that hurt your heart if it didn’t live up to expectations?” Lavelle sighed.   “Talk about something good, and let the angels write it down and grant it.” Theophile answered as he took out a bag filled with chicken breasts that had been smeared with spices.   “Amen, you are a vampire but why do you also believe in God?” Lavelle asked then laughed as she felt that her question was a little presumptuous.   “Hm ... I also have a human side, do you think I’m like the vampire in the movie?” Theophile asked again then put all the ingredients he had chopped into a teflon that had been smeared with a few dabs of butter.   “I’m so grateful to have met you, although I also don’t know if I can stay by your side or not,” Lavelle muttered, “Theo, I love you very sincerely. I know you won’t leave me for any reason but please don’t leave me with another woman.”   “How many times have I told you that you are the last, you are mine and I am yours.”
