The car ride to wherever Sabastine was taking me lasted about thirty minutes, though it felt like hours. I spent most of the ride staring out the window, silently berating myself for agreeing to a deal with the devil himself. What was I thinking? Oh, right—Money. When the car finally slowed down, I glanced at the building in front of us. It was sleek, modern, and utterly intimidating. The large, elegant sign read “Luxe Jewelers.” My stomach sank. A jewelry store. Sabastine climbed out of the car, slamming his door shut with just a bit more force than necessary. Before I could even reach for the handle, he walked around and opened my door, holding it wide with a blank expression that somehow managed to feel condescending. “Come on,” he instructed, gesturing for me to step out.
