We stand looking at the forest ready to shift just minutes away from the fight starting.
-A few hours earlier-
“Morning baby.” Colton’s raspy voice says as my eyes flutter open.
I smile. “Morning my love.”
I kiss and hug him but then the door flies open.
“Mommy! Daddy!” Dante runs in and clumsily climbs on our bed.
Leon walks in behind him rubbing his eyes.
“Mommy, he woke me up.” Leon whines.
Their room is in front of ours here in the fort.
Colton and I laugh and make space for them. They cuddle with us and fall right back to sleep.
Later, Colton and I get up and start to get ready. The battle is tonight.
As Colton gets ready, I hug him from behind. “Be careful when we are out there okay. We need you.”
He turns around smiling. “Always baby.” He kisse
