A young beautiful girl, slim and about 5'2 inch tall with black shiny waist length hair and tan skin ran behind the nurses as they rolled in the stretcher which had an aged man about fifty years of age bleeding profusely from his head.
He was rushed into the emergency ward, and the doctor was contacted. As soon as the doctor stepped into the room the was shut.
Hadleigh paced back and forth in the hall way as she was waiting for her father's treatment to be over. She was in the middle of an interview when her phone rang she hung up the call so many times, the person decided to send her a text.
"The owner of the phone has been involved in a hit and run accident and is currently in a bad shape, please hurry down and get him". Hadleigh took a peek at her phone and as soon as she saw the words "accident" she jumped out of her seat and leaving the interview incomplete and ran to the location she had been texted.
The only thing the old man could say as he lay on the ground was. "My daughter, my children....". Before his eyes grew wary and he fell unconscious. Before Hadleigh got the scene the first thing she did was to call the ambulance and they got there just a little earlier than her.
After a few hours the doctor finally stepped out, Hadleigh ran over to him and started throwing him questions. "Doctor how is my dad?, Is he going to be alright?, are there any major damages?...".
"Miss Peters please calm down, your father's situation is stable for now, he had a severe head injury but we are glad it didn't affect his brain in anyway we have that other control, we took care of it already. But....".
"But what???". Hadleigh attacked the doctor between his words.
"He had a major fracture in his vertebral column and it may require surgery as soon as possible".
"Then go on with it what are you waiting for".
"I'm sorry miss Peters but we can only do this much until you drop a deposit".
"A deposit? But my dad is an employee".
"Yes I'm aware of that but I think, your dad's salary may not cover for it, most of it is already occupied, with your brothers treatment and other depts he owes and besides you have to pay your rents and also have food. I'm afraid your dad's employee discount may not do much".
"Ok I understand. How much are we talking about here?". She asked the doctor with a trembling voice.
"Emm, roughly 10 000 pounds". The doctor spoke s little unsure if he should be troubling the young girl so much.
Hadleigh almost past out when she heard what the doctor had to say. "10 000 pounds how am I supposed to have that, that is like 10 times our house rent and plus I just sat up an interview for my dad's life. It's impossible".
"I'm sorry miss peters, there's nothing I can do about it, it's part of company policy".
Hadleigh let out a loud sigh and looked back at the doctor. "Let me see what I can do".
Hadleigh walked a little further from the doctor and made a call to the company she had just left in-between interviews.
"Hello, Phills enterprise, how may I help you?".
"Hi, again, it's me Hadleigh peters I came in for an interview earlier. I just wanted to ask if I had a chance getting the job".
"Oh, I'm sorry miss peters, I can't disclose any such information to you, but we will get back to you as soon as possible". The person at the other side of the phone spoke not to confidently.
Hadleigh could see through her voice, she immediately asked. "I'm not getting the job, am I?".
"Em, I'm sorry miss Peters but I think...em, I mean...". The lady started finding it difficult to say anything.
"Its ok I understand, thank". Hadleigh hung up the phone and lowered her head as few drops of tears ran down her cheeks freely.
Hadleigh wiped her tears with the back of her palms before turning to the doctor again. She walked up to him, the doctor was expecting to get good news seeing as the young girl was not looking so miserable. She worked up to him and stood before him staring at him oddly.
The doctor had to ask."So is there any good news?, Do we go on with the operation?".
Something inside of her told her to just tell doctor to go on with the operation that his money had been arranged. But then on a second thought she might actually get entangled in her lie later and she might also put her dad in danger.
She decided to use the safest means. she went into acting mood. she was born for it she was such a good drama queen.
