Chapter 6

Hadleigh was taken to the maid quarters and she was giving her uniform. It was a black sleeveless above knee pleated gown, with a waist apron.

She followed madame Julie back into the well furnitured, beautiful kitchen. All the food stuffs were labeled and arranged on racks making it easier to use the kitchen.

Madame Julie gave her a kitchen cap to wrap her hair, she walked a little to the other end of the kitchen were a food list was hanging on the wall. It was a two weeks food list.

"The boss is having cauliflower pan fry for dinner".

Hadleigh looked at madame Julie and back at the menu. "Do you always have to follow this?".

"As long as you don't want to get in trouble with the boss. Yes".

Hadleigh nodded her head still trying to digest while she walked back to madame Julie who was helping her out with all the cutleries she needs.

"What happens at the end of two weeks?".

"We start all over again".

"Agh, boring". Hadleigh groaned.

"Enough with the talks, let's get cooking".

"I'll leave you with this I have to join the others to prepare our own dinner. I want you to impress the boss, do your best ok".

"Yes, I will".

Madame Julie turned around and left leaving Hadleigh to her faith. Hadleigh had become a professional at a little age, her mom owned the biggest restaurant in the whole of Italy.

They had requests from home and abroad, she had to learn her mom's method of keeping the customers glued to her.

"Wow, I love the aroma, you are also very good with knives. Are you an expert?".

Hadleigh turned around from the vege's she was chopping and saw s beautiful French looking young girl, a little her age but she suspected she was older than the girl who was smiling brightly at her.

"Not really, I learnt a little from my mom".

"Your mom must be a great cook".

"Yeah, she was. she past away a long time ago".

The young girls face dropped. "I'm so sorry, I didn't know".

"It's ok, nobody knows". Hadleigh said trying to cheer her up.

"Anyways, I'm Kourtney Meyers. I'm madame Julie daughter".

"Oh you look do much like her, I'm Hadleigh Peters".

******RING******

The bell rang again and maids immediately started trooping in and taking out cutleries, table cloth, trays etc.

"What's going on". Hadleigh asked confused as she dished out the meal.

"Best of luck. It's dinner time you are gonna need it".

The maids came in and took out the food she had just dished. She cleared out her work area and joined the others outside.

Kourtney took her to the grand diner, though she had been there before during the house tour she struggled getting there even though it wasn't too far away from the kitchen.

Hadleigh and Kourtney joined the others standing behind a marked white line on the floor of the diner.

"What's this for?". Hadleigh asked Kourtney who stood beside her.

"It's a demarcation. From this side if the diner, you can't see when the light goes off".

"What light......".

Before Hadleigh could complete her statement the lights went of, only the light shining directly on the food was left on.

Two make figures appeared at the edge of the stair case you could hardly tell who was who cause all you could see was their shadow.

Both men walked with boldness and they possessed a cold and powerful aura. The one on the left was a little shorter, he wore spectacles and had a file in his hands as he read something to the other.

The other man was a bit taller roughly 6'2. He had his hands in his pocket. His face wasn't as visible as the other. She possessed a more deadly aura.

"The one on the right is the boss, while the other is his PA David. He comes home every evening to report work to the boss". Kourtney explained.

The two man sat on the table. The boss at the end and David by his side. The plates were opened and the food was dished out for the both of them, but there was an extra plate left.

"Go, its time for you to test the food".

"What???".

"Yeah go before the boss gets angry". Kourtney pushed Hadleigh to the table.

Hadleigh took the spoon and as soon as she was about to dish the food she felt a very tight grip on her wrist.
