Chapter 6:Trapped

417 Words
Cassie's eyes widened in shock as she stared at Roy, her mind racing with questions. What contract? What marriage? And why did she have a feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't even imagine? "Roy, what are you talking about?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. "I don't remember signing any contract, and I certainly don't remember getting married." Roy chuckled, a low, husky sound that sent shivers down Cassie's spine. "Oh, Cassie," he said, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "You were so drunk last night. You didn't even remember your own name, let alone what we were doing." Cassie's face flushed with embarrassment and fear. She had a vague memory of going to a bar with Roy, but everything after that was a blur. She didn't remember getting married, or signing any contract. And she certainly didn't remember agreeing to spend the rest of her life with Roy. "Roy, I think you're joking," she said, trying to laugh it off. "We didn't really get married, did we?" Roy's expression turned serious, his eyes glinting with a hard light. "We did, Cassie," he said, his voice firm. "And there's no going back now. We're husband and wife, and we're going to make this work." Cassie felt a cold dread creeping up her spine. She didn't know what she had gotten herself into, but she had a feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't even imagine!. Cassie's mind raced as she tried to process what Roy was telling her. She couldn't remember getting married, but the ring on her finger and the contract on the bedside table seemed to suggest that it was true. "What kind of contract?" she asked, her voice shaking slightly. Roy smiled again, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, just a little something we signed last night. Don't worry about the details, Cassie. You'll figure it out as we go along." Cassie's unease grew. She didn't like the sound of this at all. She tried to remember more about the previous night, but her memories were hazy and unclear. "Roy, I think I need some time to think about this," she said, trying to sit up again. Roy's expression turned cold, his eyes narrowing. "You don't have time to think, Cassie. We need to leave soon. Our plane is waiting." Cassie's heart raced as she realized the truth. She was trapped, and she had no idea what Roy had planned for her!
