Chapter 7:You did sign it!

Plane?" Cassie repeated, her mind racing. "Where are we going?" Roy smiled again, his eyes glinting with excitement. "Our new home, Cassie. A place where we can start fresh and build a life together." Cassie's unease grew. She didn't remember agreeing to move anywhere, and she certainly didn't remember marrying Roy. But the ring on her finger and the contract on the bedside table seemed to suggest that she had done just that. "Roy, I don't remember any of this," she said, her voice shaking. "I don't remember getting married, or signing a contract, or even agreeing to move in with you. What's going on?" Roy's expression turned cold, his eyes narrowing. "You're just experiencing a little memory loss, Cassie. It's nothing to worry about. You'll remember everything soon enough." Cassie wasn't so sure. She had a feeling that something was very wrong, and she needed to get to the bottom of it. She tried to sit up again, but Roy's hand on her shoulder pushed her back down. "Rest, Cassie," he said, his voice firm. "We have a long journey ahead of us." Cassie felt a surge of fear. She was trapped, and she had no idea what Roy had planned for her. She needed to think, to come up with a plan, but her mind was foggy and unclear. As she lay there, she noticed a piece of paper on the bedside table. It was the contract, the one Roy had mentioned earlier. Cassie's heart raced as she reached out and grabbed it, scanning the pages quickly. And then she saw it, the one clause that made her blood run cold... "...in the event of any disagreement or dispute, the husband shall have full authority to make decisions on behalf of the wife, and the wife shall obey and comply with such decisions without question or resistance." Cassie's eyes widened in horror as she read the words. She couldn't believe she had signed such a thing. She felt a surge of anger and fear, and she knew she had to get out of there, fast. She tried to sit up again, but Roy's hand was still on her shoulder, holding her down. She shook him off and stood up, her heart racing. "Roy, what is this?" she demanded, waving the contract at him. "You can't be serious. I didn't sign up for this." Roy shrugged, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You did sign it, Cassie. And now, we have to leave. Our plane is waiting." Cassie felt a cold dread creeping up her spine. She knew she had to think fast, to come up with a plan. But her mind was foggy, and she couldn't seem to think straight. As she stood there, trying to gather her thoughts, Roy took her arm and led her out of the room. Cassie went willingly, her mind racing with possibilities. She knew she had to escape, but how? And where could she go? As they walked through the airport, Cassie noticed a sign - "Last Call for Flight 123 to Rio de Janeiro". Rio? What was Roy's connection to Rio? And then, it hit her - the memory she had been trying to recall all morning. The conversation she had overheard, the one that had made her so uneasy...
